I have to do a lot of jobs like this on the aircraft so im used to doing it but when its your own parts and money that your risking its a different story

as Jim said measure measure measure and then take a step back, i still managed to use a complete roll of masking tape as i couldn't make my mind up what lines to follow.

It didn't help that i had had a few beers too lol probably better than if i had done it 100% sober

I'm still trying to built the confidence to do my aero catches.in my carbon bonnet. Just don't like the consequences if it goes tits up... Thumbs down

You'd have to be very negligent to do it wrong though to be honest.

Use the template on the back of the pack and to can't go wrong.

I started by finding the best place for my pin. Then lowered the bonnet and found the point it met. Drilled a hole an made it into a slot so the pin would pop through. Then all you have to do is place the template on top and the cross hair on the template will go through the centre of the pin to give you the main outline to cut.

Once you've the balls to start you'll see it's all logical and straight forward. Agreed it's getting the balls to start the job that's the hardest bit.

That's how I did mine, the boot lid however was not so easy!

I was going to fit the pins at 45 degrees for the boot lid but in the end I went for the easy option and fitted them vertical which then needed a lot of trimming of the inside of the boot lid.
Looking back I wish I had fitted the pins at 45 degrees as I wouldn't have had to remove as much material and you wouldn't see the locknuts at the bottom of the boot lid Sad
Oh well damage is done now but still looks good IMO

I never thought to fit the boot pins vertically lol I made 2 plates that stick up from the car so I could mount them horizontally on mine. Stunning looking car will look great when finished

Thanks lads, all my hard work kind of seems worth it now :-)
My mate has assured me that it looks a million times better in real life.
The ceramic lacquer cost 3 x more than the paint but is worth every penny.

The wings will be coming off when I rebuild it to make sure I don't scratch anything and to make it easier to fit stuff with out bending over the phat arches.

Hopefully he will send me some more pics of the car once he has sprayed the doors, bumpers, splitter and skirts

I think the hardest part is going to be making the engine look nice an tidy as it would just let the car down if its dirty
