It is a 2-pin one that you need, they have supplied the wrong part. Yes

Thumbs up

You can also see in the pic that the colour of the new sensor is the wrong shade of blue. Yes

That doesn't actually mean anything though.

I have a light blue, 1 pinned sensor that came from Peugeot. It's the correct part number and works fine.

You've got the 1-pin one as well Rich?

How does that work, it's the incorrect one for the '6', we need the 2-pin variety. Wink

It's the part that Peugeot sell. I just assumed it was a change by the manufacturer and that it wouldn't make a difference, and it hasn't.

I think all it does is do away with the wired -ve on the loom and use the engine body instead.

^^Pretty much, cheaper to make. Maybe slightly less accurate but not enough to worry about.

All sorted pug dealer found the correct sensor by the number on the old one , be there first thing in morning

1 pin does not work on mine, sends the gauge over 100 soon as you turn it on

    Hmm

It does seem strange that they hadn't thought of earthing through the body to start with, after all the thing screws into the engine which is already an Earth...

Even stranger is the fact that the OP has now apparantly managed to get the "correct" part out of Pug, which must mean that the part you bought Rich was indeed incorrect (even though it works) and that the original part hasn't been superceded...how odd.

Pete - Let us know what exactly it is you collect tomorrow, would be interested to know if it's EXACTLY the same as the old one. Yes

    Cheers.

Well as I say, it's the correct part number, and the bag was sealed...and it works fine...

Pete - what is the part number of the replacement one they are ordering for you?

Is the car in question a Rallye? That's the part for non-A/C models...

    No

Well,as I said a few posts up the two wire sensor is required if you have a stop light and temp gaugeYes

Tried earthing them out on mine earlier to confirmBig grin

Earth out the white wire and the stop light illuminates, earth out the orange wire and gauge goes right roundWink

The Xsara VTS is fitted with a single connection sensor, and a single wire plug going onto it,cause they have no stop lightThumbs up

Your stop light cannot be working on the coolant system then?Dunno

Presuming you have got two connections on the plug going to sensorWink
