So after years of lusting after one, I finally went and bought myself a GTV V6. Everything I expected it to be, gorgeous inside and out, sounds the dogs and goes like stink.

I also expected it to be rather troublesome and in true Alfa fashion, it sure is LOL. Problems to report so far: clutch/flywheel failure and driver's door won't open. Not to mention the ridiculous fuel consumption. But who cares! It's all part of owning one of these brilliant cars.

Not sure what I'm going to do with the Rallye just yet, I still think it's so much more fun to drive and more rewarding than the Alfa so can't bring myself to part with it yet. Might just keep the Rallye as the daily and use the Alfa only on weekends so I can prolong the time it takes to financially ruin me LOL.

Few pics

And the awesome "busso" V6

Love the inlets on these

Just got the wife 156 2.4jtm 5 cylinder diesel 175bhp and just shy of 50mpg over the last 500 miles, which is better than the Mondeo 2.0 tdci it replaced

I almost bought one a few years ago now, even had the cash in my pocket but in the cold light of day the one I was looking at was just a bit tatty.

Sounded lovely though.

Alfa Busso V6 Love

Cam belt isnt too bad. Standard service, spark plug change and new cam belt including ancillaries is £630 at Autolusso.

Cambelt was done about 32 thousand ago but also 4 years ago so ideally should be getting it done. I made sure I kept money aside for that and other jobs which may come up.

Oh yeh, and to make it sound like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfiwc9MbPIY&feature=youtube_gdata_player. Love

You still got your GTA Barry? Would you advise only letting a specialist do the belt? I know they require specialist tools.

No Barry sold his Alfa, I really wanted it but it was the wrong time to buy a car. I love Alfa's ever since I had a 156 and it was quite a reliable car as they generally don't go wrong much as long as they are well maintained. Nice car you have there....Thumbs up

Aye the cup is lovely, they're still fetching 7k though and cost £500 a year to tax. Thinking of getting the cup kit but then want to keep it standard.

Thanks Thumbs up. They're generally not too un reliable, just stupid little things always pop up. The aerial was refusing to go up yesterday LOL, sorted now though.

I did consider these before buying a 330CI. I needed a car that I could get people in the back of though so that ruled the Alfa out. Sad Very pretty cars though. Yes

6 cylinders FTW!

I've just scraped 50 to a quarter so about 200 to a full tank. That is all town driving though, 90% 1st-3rd gear.

V6 FTMFW!!

I have to agree.

Reminds me of a Fiat 20V Coupe, but even uglier.

As MCH says, each to their own.
