What pulley ratio are you running again?

Not sure tbh. It's on a 67mm pulley and standard bottom one but he was adamant it would make 7psi until the plate warped and let all my boost out lol

That's less than 2:1 so I doubt you'll see 7psi, get a smaller pulley on Wink

So just to update this. Some may have seen my thread in the engines section but the day after mapping, i developed a knock which turned out to be a big end bearing

Thankfully i caught it in time. Crank was fine after a polish, rods were fine and the mains were fine so fitted new big en bearings and 2nd time lucky. Got it up and running with a oil pressure gauge fitted which would not stop leaking but finally i have stopped it! Sunday, took it for a nice country drive (only easy going as I'm still bedding it in) but was great fun with bags more torque low down. Did a 50 mile drive, drew a fair bit of attention with the whine lol and for once, it wasn't me who broke down!

Overall, going well so far!

Next step is a new fuel pump, pull the engine loom out to tidy up then carry on running it in the remapping. Oh and a new charger manifold that doesn't leak!

Ha yeah that's Stef over on the 205 forum who used cork. I took the p**s saying it was a placemat. It was in fact a cork floor tile.

Fair play to him if it works but i would just always have something in my mind thinking how much of a pikey am I! lol
Ive used a bit of 3mm rubber which seems to work well.

Oh, also ordered a new air filter and fuel pump today so just got to design a new charger outlet then it can go back for mapping again

Hope cork floor tiles work better as gaskets than they do as floor tiles, I did my bathroom with them and they're a right f**king state! I'll pm stef to see if he wants them as spares Razz

    Just seen this.
Thanks Stef! I must admit, i rarely update this compared to my thread on OC but you get the general idea. Anyway, update!

Several problems arose from the mapping. Firstly, fuel delivery issues. Turns out my pump was on its way out which made sense as it has made some funky noises in the past. So, i bought a Walbro 255 pump and got it fitted. I have only taken it for a quick drive to make sure it works but so far so good!

Next up is the charger outlet. Originally, it was going to head straight down to the bottom of the rad and under the expansion tank to the IC but i cocked up with my measuring and when we fitted the engine, i had to turn the plate around 90 degrees meaning i had to pikey a twin pass and run a pipe all the way around the back of the rad then along the front. this presented a problem of intake temperatures of 50 degrees! Also, because i made the original outlet from steel and the charger is ally, they expanded at different rates and its actually bucked the plate causing a boost leak! So, new charger plate has been designed and has been sent to a few people for quotes to be made out of ally

And the new route the pipe will be taking which will avoid the intake temps, a long run and less places to leak boost Big grin

The recirc valve will then be moved down to the pipe from the IC so its releasing cold air back to the charger rather than hot air like it currently is.

Once all of this is done, time for mapping again and then hopefully i will make the correct power!

Woke up to a text from Allen this morning with a picture of this...

With any luck once its fitted, i should start seeing some sensible boost figures now (hope for 7psi) and then its ready to go back for mapping again.

Well got the new charger outlet fitted. Massive thanks to Allen for making it for me. Top work and service. Anyway, didn't quite go to plan. My measurements weren't spot on for the mounting holes so they needed some "adjustment". Anyway, once that was done, i got it fitted and took it for a drive. Car is much more lively and am now seeing 6psi. Only problem is now, if i let off the throttle at high rpm/boost, i get a nice chirp from the charger. Think its the belt slipping from the charger stalling due to the recirc valve not releasing enough pressure. Hope its that!
Its definitely the charger as if i disconnect the charger i don't get it at all (which is a relief!). Think I'm going to try and add another recirc valve and see if that cures it.

Oh and if the pipework vibrates against the bonnet, theres a simple way to fix that!

Certainly agree there mate I'm on PS3's all round now and wouldn't have anything else for a road tyre.

Good progress there Niall, I've heard of people using 2 dump valves on these before so hopefully that's what the problem is. Either that or get yourself a massive one with a big trumpet outlet should relieve enough boost.

Lovely bit of tig welding in that outlet plate from Allan Thumbs up

No mine are the correct offset and direct fit. The 16s just have really deep bolt holes unlike the 17s
