Obviously the 6 doesn't have vvt didn't say it did All im saying is the power curve on tbe RS engine is very progressive so not massively noticeable where as on the renfault you notice it much more. ________________________________________ Team Nile 6Team: 40.2 MPG 5 x a 306 owner! currently abusing type r's in a town near you ™ I truely live for the 306 ® Build date: 29th October 1997 Wednesday's car midweek madness |

I am not getting in on the 'GTi6 engine is better' debate as I don't have a clue. I think Sandy is the Chap me and a mate were talking to 5/6 yrs ago at Castle Combe on a Saloon race day (I recognise the 206 on his avatar) Car was running circa 290BHP?? Went like stink aroung Combe, that's for sure! Sandy Brown... The Man... The Legend! ________________________________________ I Live for the 306TEAM CHERRY PINK RALLYE 2008 BMW ///M 320d |

GTISID must be one hell of a powerwalker 138 has 190 Nm of torque, 89% of which spread between 1800 and 5750, peak is at 6k which I would imagine are due to the restrictive inlet and exhaust manifolds, given the dramatic increases Longman saw with just throttle bodies and exhaust manifold alone, torque from this one was 20 lbft more than the 180 engine. 90 hp 8 valve DW10 only has 205 Nm So you think longmans took a standard engine slapped on tbs and manifolds then got 190 bop I think you will find they took the thing apart rebuilt it from the ground up with uprated parts and always used EFI not Omex |

But f*ck working on one I would say it's better in 2nd and 3rd than first, but everyone has a different perception. Yeah, the VVT makes it much more fun to drive than a 6 IMO. A GTi6 is 'refined' at speed when compared. Yeah, the cambelts are 'tricky' compared to a '6 one, but you can practically stand in a Cup engine bay, there is so much room in there. Very basic. ________________________________________ |

I do miss my gti 180 sometimes but prefer the way 306's go around corners ________________________________________ '13 208 Gti Bianca White, '99 Bianca 306 Rallye, '92 309 Goodwood GTi 5dr, '92 Miami Blue 309 GTi 3dr. |

adam b wrote: Rubbish its extremely reliable. They aren't bad, thats it. Using the RS engine I am currently running 454bhp. And have been 100% reliable at this power. The only components that have been changed are the pistons and rods. I am still using the standard crank, block, head, valves, cams and cooling system. Considering Peugeot were expecting this engine to run circa 170bhp, you can't really say that's a bad result, can you? ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |
