A hard work season plus a sponsorship for racing with a different car, made things a little bit harder for the s16 side!! As the engine rebuild couldn´t be done in time for the next round of time attack, i've been invited to drive a b18 civic from a friend of mine. The s16 is finally getting the treatment for another stage of development...there will be some parts to sell!! lolol The next mods include: 406 complete driveshafts (longer) for what camber matters, along 406 hubs too. This will make possible to eliminate some parts from this zone. The track width will be almost the same i have in the past (40mm due to 20mm spacers and 20mm extension on the suspension arm), but i'm getting rid of the wheel spacers. On the rear, special pins will be made, already with camber adjustment, just like 306 maxi has. Sponsorships will finally appear on the car... ________________________________________ What is a hybrid?Honda engine...Ford brakes...Peugeot chassis...Vauxhall steering... |

Ora boas Redondo... :It will be difficult to reach 800kg, but it will stay within the 800ish. The ARB setup is the original one. I was a bit afraid that it couldn't handle the new suspension setup, but the rear end still does what i want...rolling enough into the corner, as you can see be the photos. I cannot exagerate on the rates because i can only use semi slick tyres. For now, it will stay the same. It was supposed to get back on track on september, but i have two invitations for driving hondas...the EG i've used on the last stage and a CTR, both on my class, wich may cause a delay on the s16 development. ________________________________________ What is a hybrid?Honda engine...Ford brakes...Peugeot chassis...Vauxhall steering... |

Great work fella, just one small criticisim if I may? Your laser/waterjet cut seat mounts are way too flimsy. If you end up rolling the car there is no way they are going to hang onto that seat. Bit too overboard on the style and not enough substance, but they look fantastic.________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. Thanks for the tip, but we've made some lateral strenght tests before with a recaro mounts to compare. The first mounts that we've made were even more fragile than the one's i have now, but after those same tests, they could´t handle it. The final one's handle even more strenght (lateral and vertical) than the recaro one's. We are used to give good use to the tools we have in the shop, like strenght plates. ________________________________________ What is a hybrid?Honda engine...Ford brakes...Peugeot chassis...Vauxhall steering... |

Aiaiai isto sim é um projeto impecavel. It is great to see al the improvement on your car! And to see that despite the "crisis" in our country people like you still manage to have some fun and show some proper craftsmanship. What LSD are you using on the 306? Quaife i guess? If you ever decide to go for plate diff let me know as i am after a quaife one for my 6 that will also get a nice treat over the winter |

Thanks Marco... Things don't look so good around here, but hopefully i'm doing good until now. The LSD was custom made by RMC in Portugal and it's a 2way plate diff. Quaife's are already too soft for the intended use of the car. The company makes final drives, entire gear sets... The improvement on turn in was the biggest surprise, because as soon as you take the foot out of the throttle, the front end just turns almost by itself. I was used to turn the steering wheel a lot more with an open and quaife diffs. ________________________________________ What is a hybrid?Honda engine...Ford brakes...Peugeot chassis...Vauxhall steering... |

As some of have noticed, the s16 is starting a new stage of development...aka a new marathon!!Big grink20 swap... The engine was now placed in it's compartment, so we can check out the engine mounts and how we´re gonna make them. We´re gonna maintain 3 mounts, just like the original engine, and not 4 as the civic ep3. The exhaust manifold is gonna be the main headache, because on the 306, it passes over the steering collumn, but on the civic it passes below that. The welder was already called to get the job done...and 4-2-1 will be made. The driveshafts and their alligment is already done, and it wasn't hard to get it done. Water radiator will be donated by honda parts too. The next days will be spent on the detailed positioning of the engine, because we´re gonna try to put it as low and back as possible. ________________________________________ What is a hybrid?Honda engine...Ford brakes...Peugeot chassis...Vauxhall steering... |
