I wouldn't mind becoming an admin either, been an admin on several Belgian forums in the past. Also probably more neutral than most because I'm foreign (and I believe my English is definitely on par with the majority here) On the downside I'm not only 24/7 like some of you. ________________________________________ Team WheelwhoreTeam Limited Edition Astor 306 Francorchamps RIP Virtual Blue 208 GTi quote: I this place. On 206info, we used to get people to send us a PM saying why they should be a moderator etc. Since there's a fair few admin/mods on there we used to vote between us. You could do the same thing, draw a short-list and allow members to vote Most votes..wins...simples. Better that than everyone shouting out the name of their best pal on the forum.________________________________________ '13 208 Gti Bianca White, '99 Bianca 306 Rallye, '92 309 Goodwood GTi 5dr, '92 Miami Blue 309 GTi 3dr. |

Ash, have you considered selling the site?I appreciate and can fully understand you have moved on to pastures new and don't have the time to actively moderate yourself. By having a team of new admin/moderaters, are you going to therefore check up on it even less? Ultimately the large decisions will be up to you, but if a new admin was to reopen the classifieds one day, and other things materialise with it, are you going to be able to keep up with the direction the site goes in? This is nothing personal to you at all, but can I ask where you see yourself in the team? Are you going to visit even less with others running the site? It would be almost unfair to offload the responsibilities to the new team and then continue to sit on the pot if you do have little interest in the site now - which I don't believe is the case. Again this is not a negative personal attack, and hats off to you for spending the time to overhaul the site recently. By spending so much of your time redeveloping features proves your heart was in it. To then let it all get a bit out of hand is a shame. Would it perhaps be because of the way the atmosphere went negative after all your efforts that you thought 'f*ck it'? I thought twice about posting this, but it may provoke some thoughts from yourself or others. As I have said numerous times, i'm not a paid member because I think there are niggles to iron out before I do. I think it sounds like it will go in the right direction, and when it does I will happily put my hand in my pocket. On the other hand, to show I'm not all negative, I would be prepared to also give something back and help out in the future. ________________________________________ |

I can see the point you are trying to make Dan but this site is bound to be making Ash a bit of extra pocket money these days and should be seen like a buisness to him. With this being the case it's not really unfair in anyway for him to not be activly involved with the running but still sitting on the pot as you put it. It's no different to any other buisness that has employees to run it, wether they be paid staff or voluntary it's how the majority of companies/buisnesses are run.The site had the same problem shortly after I joined and Kev and Paul got promoted to admin, that was a long time ago now and they obviously have other commitments so are not very active on here at all. A few mods to ban the trolls, tidy up for sale thread arguments etc is all the site needs, it fixed the problem last time but unfortunatly the fix was short lived. I cant help but feel extra admin should of been tried before the change of the site, the same problems still exist on the site and paying for the site hasnt changed anything, extra mods should help solve the problems and this had been said by myself and many other members over the years. ________________________________________ Ryan |

I think Dan makes some good points. If you run a business, you need customers. If you don't have the time to tend to those customers, they leave and you have no business. You can't expect a load of unpaid people to keep your business running sweetly for you, although I appreciate there are hardly millions pouring in.Very realistic option for Ash is just to hand the whole thing over to someone else and not have to worry about the headache, or maybe someone who wants to do it as a full-time job. MLR actually employ staff, you pay about £50 a year iirc but you get real magazines through every quarter, regular discounted club trackdays, stuff like that. Not saying that'd be possible on here, as we all own pikey French shitboxes rather than expensive evos, but still - the option is there to build it into much more than a car forum if someone wanted to. Not saying Ash is doing a bad job, just saying it's an option to consider. ________________________________________ Membership expiring soon, get in contact on our new little forum project. |

So let me get this straight...this is a business, that only people that have paid into will be allowed to volunteer their time while someone who made it and can't be f*cked with it anymore gets the proceeds? Happy volunteering |
