Yellow E36 M3 BMW

Not very quick. They are so lairy, that an average driver would be quicker in a normal 182 clio.

I had one behind me at Rockingham for FCS, I let it past as thought it would be quicker, then it went straight off the track at the next corner Laugh

The 328's are about equal in performance but they are all heavily modded and lightened. The M3's are a different league but again all lightened and on slicks so hard to compare. I think the 306 holds up well to be honest and I will be interested to see how far off it is once I strip it out and run slicks.

e36 328 same performance as what? a gti6? yes, not an m3 No

had an e36 evo and an e46 m3 and the e36 m3 will run rings around the 328's in every department all day. oh and they're ~7 seconds quicker to 100mph so definitely a 'bit quicker' Wink

Totally agree as I said the M3 is in a different league very quick i would never replace my 6 with a 328 as they are no quicker, even the modded ones. It is strange how the ones who have purchased 328's seem to think they can get M3 performance on the cheap when an M3 isnt even that expensive.

I will have to check with my mate but I think the V6 trophy was built before the V6 road car and only about 130ish were made. They have a numbered plaque, again I think this is the case, which says Clio Trophy No *** and they were not road registered (No lights for a start). My mates has lights because it was converted at some point into an endurance racer. It sounds fantastic but isn't that fast as the series had sealed engines and ECU's, in fact he has a modified phase one (See below) which was quicker until a bit of 'coming together' with a lamp post.

What?, your joking right, maybe not round everyones favourite "twisties" but in everyday driving they a fair bit quicker and soooooo much smoother with much better torque and power delivery, all in my opinion of course, but UPGRADING (as it was) from a gti6 to a 328i was an easy choice for me.

Some of you fanboi gti6 owners really do need to have a reality check i'm afraid Wink

Are you sure about yourself?? 328s are not as fast at all they are dog slow for what they are. I shit all over my mates 328 all day long. look at the difference between the 325 and 328 1bhp difference wtf???!!!??

Dear oh dear, by chance you don't own an i-phone do you?

Do you know why the 328i only has 1bhp more than the 325i?, any ideas what happens if a 325i tb and intake manifold is fitted to a 328i?

You p*ss all over your mates 328i's? hmmmm interesting

gti6 has half the torque of a 328i and whilst your trying to get maximum power screaming the nuts of it at 5500 rpm to get 145Nm I've comfortably doubled that by 4000rpm, it's not all about bhp you know!

Anyway like I said, it's a none argument, a gti-6 is a great car which is why I had mine for 6 whole years but the bm is on completely a different level i'm afraid

p.s. your mates 328I?, which one is it?

It's the E36 328. The 6 doesnt have less than half the torque at all 63ftlbs less, and the BMW only produces it peak torque 1500rpm earlier, that coupled to it's weight issue and 2bhp/tonne difference makes for no difference at all. Therefore both in standard form there is little or no difference.
