What?, your joking right, maybe not round everyones favourite "twisties" but in everyday driving they a fair bit quicker and soooooo much smoother with much better torque and power delivery, all in my opinion of course, but UPGRADING (as it was) from a gti6 to a 328i was an easy choice for me.

Some of you fanboi gti6 owners really do need to have a reality check i'm afraid Wink

At 40 I am bit beyond fan boy and the fact is on track 328s are no quicker than a GTI6 in my opinion. I am under no illusions on the speed of a GTI6, my diesel Merc 220 will p*ss past it on the motorway, the pug is 13 years old after all. If you use your 328 as an everyday car I am sure its much nicer to drive, my works Navara is nicer to drive, but as a cheap track toy I reckon the 306 is the better car.

^^^ totally agree with you. My mate had a standard 1999 328ci. It was extremely comfy to drive, quite quick and handled really well. On a straight its quicker than my standard 6, just. It would be a good race on track. Having driven it loads of times, it is no way in a different league to the 6 though. Comfort and build quality etc, yes, but not as a track car! Thumbs up

BM's are shite and fall apart like any other cars don't believe the hype, luxury my ass just expensive maintenance, the engines are alright but you need to buy a 328 or above to really get any bang for your buck, Id much rather be rallyeing around the back roads of London in my PUG at least Ill be in a great mood when I get to were I'm going Big grin

If I was going to have a BMW as a track car it would be an E30 all the way! Cool

Having bought a 330 I have to say the power delivery and they way it accelerates is immense, however, try to throw it round a sharp turn and it's either an "oh shit I'm going to die" moment or the back end steps out......and then the TC kicks. I would definitely have a 6 again. In terms of maintenance, the Ci has actually saved me money and I think the pug parts has gone under LOL
