Just completed a low boost conversion on my 205 GTI6 and I love it. We made 265hp and 222lbs/ft on V Power and it drives great. Go for it mate ;-) |

Is it a road car or is it a race car? If you use it on track and are prepared to rev the living tits off it all the time then go for cams, bodies, increased rev limit etc. If its a road/track car the extra torque of the supercharger (i assume) will help you a lot more, will save you money in fuel and generally make it a lot more fun and driveable everyday.________________________________________ owain wrote: A GTI-6 with a good dashboard and the seats down can outsprint an E46 M3 in July. |

For the power difference it isn't worth the money imho. you will always want high boost. for what it costs to do it all.properly you could go out and buy something that's quicker out of the box. I've gone back to standard and all i want to do is suspension mods. do it if money is no object. it wasnt for me at the time and i loved it. but then i bought a house, got a joint car to run (mk 5 r32) and got a kid on the way. then you realise how much of an arse you've been ________________________________________ |

eliotrw, I am going straight to High Boost, but it will cost ££££ Its not only the SC kit and Engine rebuild you will need, its all the other upgrades you need to do to support the power. You're best bet is to PM Rich_W and ask him and he can even talk prices with you so you can weigh it all up. Try and go in a Low boost car to see if its for you. As said with that money you can go and get your self another car with loads of power out of the box, but then thats boring. to look at some of the high boost cars you wouldn't think they had 400bhp!! |

I disagree and think the low boost conversions are worth it Imo, low boost cars are a lot quicker than standard, in fact a "standard" six feels slow after driving one, problem is you get used to the power and they then don't feel as quick or scare you anymore Solution is get a mate to drive with you in the passenger seat, they then feel quick again and the scary sensation comes back ________________________________________ Team Supercharged Gti-6™ |

Dave your right, i gave eddy_gti6 a shot of mine low boost and was terrified altho 130mph on b road generally is lol!!if i was doing it again, id of either went high boost from the start or just get an 8v turbo lump as they isint much in it at all, as me an my mate had couple of we start stops to see how they compared, i prefered to drive the supercharged car over the turbo'd lump. ________________________________________ In my garage just now2003 BMW M3 & 2009 L200 Raging Bull & Audi Q5 S Line AX stock rod & Saxo Stock rod Sold the bike an charged rallye an bought a caravan, midlife crisis or what! |

ash wrote: Agreed-I've had both and high boost is the way forward. +1 However.... only if you can afford it. It costs a lot to upgrade to high boost and I wouldn't have bothered but a bottom end failure on my low boost engine forced my hand. If you end up needing to rebuild the engine it seems rude not to throw some shiny bits in while you're at it. Remember there are a lot of other parts you need to fit for high boost. And they are shiny.... and shiny costs money... Lots of money... ________________________________________ Standard Black 6Black HBSC6 |

I use a gutless 306 1.9D for day to day use, then the 'charged one for fun. You think the difference between a standard 6 and an SC 6 is a lot, well come try this diesel ________________________________________ Chris1999 China Gti6 Supercharged [Fun car] >>Project Thread<< 2000 Bianca 306 Diesel [Work runabout] |

I know this feeling too. I drive a Citroen dispatch van 40k a year but then get to drive the Lotus on a weekend (similar power/weight of a LB 6) and it feels like a missle in comparison. Its a nice feeling but doesn't stop you wanting more. I'm looking into supercharging the Lotus as soon as the funds come available. Funnily enough it maybe a Rotrex charger too ________________________________________ My old man wrote me a letter from prison once. Stevie, for me and Chris the 2 cars in question are still the same car (still a 306) so it makes it even more wierd.Everything is basically the opposite ________________________________________ Chris1999 China Gti6 Supercharged [Fun car] >>Project Thread<< 2000 Bianca 306 Diesel [Work runabout] |

It is a mint standard Astor Cheers guys. It was a good car TBH. It wasn't standard tho. It had/still has a hybrid ARB, solid rear mounts and RichW front roller bearings. It eibachs on the front and the rear lowered to suit as well The only thing I took off it were the Compo CXR's and the Wilwoods I don't think the Lotus will be making it into the projects section as I refuse to pay the membership fee It's a drive in/drive out conversion too so not much of a project. Although I will be getting some Nitrons (suspension if you didn't know) and other bits and bobs - things like exhaust, brake pads/hoses, thicker adj front anti roll bar (it doesn't have a rear one) - off the top of my head BTW (if you're interested) they claim a conservative 260bhp for the supercharger conversion on an otherwise standard engine/exhaust. It uses a water chargecooler system and a Rotrex charger. With a decent manifold and exhaust that 260 would be nearer 280/290bhp. It'd make it quite nippy i think @320ish bhp/tonne. 60 in 4 seconds and a tonne in 8.7 apparently ________________________________________ My old man wrote me a letter from prison once.
