Cant say i've had any issues with mine.Only thing i have noticed is when you switch the engine on the rev counter shoots up to about 1.5k/2k and then goes down to rest as normal. It that this noise everyone is referring to? Cant say i've noticed anything else. But yes the car will rev alot more freely and with an almost standard 6 that pulls absurdly well like yours does, you will love it. The whole driving experience just feels alot more effortless You shouldnt have to worry about teeth breaking off as if you buy new it will be machined from the stronger metal. They are something to look at too, really nice, shame its inside your gearbox when in use Edit; i can pop over later if you like and you can take her out for a spin, see what you think...? Shes running sweet apart from a blowing exhaust which needs attention ________________________________________ ''Oh, it does handle like a golf!'' Why drive a Golf....when you can drive a GTi-6? |

Yup. Mate of mine had a lightened one which was great, then the starter destroyed it. He's now got a new lightened one, and gets "the noise". ________________________________________ Membership expiring soon, get in contact on our new little forum project. |

can we keep this noise discussion going in the transmission>lighten fly noise thread please? having it in 2 places is getting confusing.as for the original question, get one Matt, its a good noticeable improvement, once it's started ________________________________________ supercharged China gti6 - Thu 16th Sep 1999 - sold2010 megane rs250 |

Makes a odd noise when the starter is engaged. think it was some sort of alignment problem that was solved by putting a washer on the top fixing thus pushing the starter up slightly so that the starter when engaged does not fit so tight to the flywheel. a pain to fit that washer in though. flywheel just catches the starter when engaged.....although this may hae been just mine but that is how we fixed it. dont know why it happened, maybe the flywheel sits closer to the crank ? i dont know ________________________________________ puglessPhase 1 GTI 6 1996-1997 Subaru Impreza GB270 2007-2008 rare spiderman comics same day international courier |

Yours is fine, M306 it does sound more metallic than a normal one because of the metal, In simple term's like hitting different grades of metal when hanging,It's the same on my mega-miler with the ting but the teeth are fine, You can see them if you look at the top of the box under the Throttle body ________________________________________ 306 Rallye Sptint/Race Car, 205 CTI 1.9 8v to name a fewRoad, Track and Race/Rally car preparation to your personal requirements, Full Workshop & Diagnostic Facilities New and Second parts, from Plugs to Turbo's We now also carry out Routine Servicing www.pugracing.com & FB Page, https://www.facebook.com/PugRacing Ebay; http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Pug-Racing-Shop 2012/2013/2014/2019 Class Winners at Gurston Down Speed Hillclimb & Joint overall, Class record too along the way, |

Is the starter ring not hardened on these? If so how are teeth getting damaged? If it is hardened is it harder than the starter motor seens a thats the consumable.________________________________________ See the sheer power and might of the lesser known burrowing owl. |

It's just the tops of the teeth that are getting worn, its almost like the starter is just skimming the tops of the teeth. I don't know that much about the starters on these cars, but surely the amount of people all having this problem at the same time would imply there must be some kind of problem? I fail to believe that everyone who's fitted one has missed a dowel, or bought the same wrong starter.________________________________________ Membership expiring soon, get in contact on our new little forum project. |
