With baby well and truly on the way and quite a lot of shit that i need to get in the next few months anyone have any tips on the best way of stripping a supercharged 6 and how much you can expect to make on bits? never stripped a car before but looks like i'm going to have to rape the beast to get any cash out of it so what do i need to get it all stripped down and how do you post/store bits like engines, gear boxes etc.Any info will be greatly appreciated Dan ________________________________________ |

Why don't you return the car to standard (assuming you still have all the bits) and sell the supercharger and kit on its own?, you would get maybe 2-2.5k for the s/c and kit, few hundred for the ECu plus any other goodies (intercooler etc) you have on it and then sell the car on, looks a nice example so should shift ok,Or do as I did and throw another three grand at it and go high boost ________________________________________ Team Supercharged Gti-6™ |

Putting it back to standard would be quicker than stripping it lol, should be able to do it in a day, although some of the vultures on here can dissemble a 6 in about half a day I believe, seems a shame to scrap a nice car, too many going to not gonna be many left________________________________________ Team Supercharged Gti-6™ |

To be honest if a second hand supercharger is worth about £2k - £2.5k and the car without it is worth about £1500 on it's own then why not sell it complete for about £3.5k - £4k? If you strip it then you will see even less money. Highly modifying a car is like throwing money onto a fire.________________________________________ Less than 24 hours to go! |

He'll make plenty of money from breaking it, it's a case of does he have the time and space needed? £2.5k for the charger and kit, more if he includes injectors, ECU etc £150 exhaust? £300 wheels £400 engine £300 brakes That's already over £3.5k. And the car's barely been touched. Factor in interior, suspension, bodywork, could easily reach £4.5k, possibly more from this little lot GE Quickshift with a shortened gear lever for a lovely short throw £20? Koni adjustable shock with eibach springs for a 30mm drop £150-£200? Solid rear mounts on a rebuilt rear beam £200 for complete beam? Lightened Flywheel £130ish? HID Lights £40 for the kit, + £40 for the crystals KD strut brace £40? AEM Wideband lambda with AFR Gauge – both gauges mounted in a pillar pod £100? Alloy Crank Pulley £60? That lot should sell easily enough and gets him to around £4300 with plenty left over that would take a little longer to shift... ________________________________________ Bye bye Sundance Kid |

These cars are unfortunately always worth more in pieces, it's just a matter of can you wait for the sales to come through? I think my car will be broken one day down the line, pretty much no resale value at all now ________________________________________ Bye bye Sundance Kid |

2k and my Clio ans ill take it I could get it stripped in a day but your left with bits sitting round for days/weeks even months sometimes so you need to factor that in along with the fact that every dog and his dick are breaking them and giving parts away for peanuts is what sems to be happening now |

The exhaust is one of the best out there in my opinion, 63mm bore blueflame with de-cat, so quiet on the motorway, sounds awesome when you give it some. If i do strip it you are more than welcome to have it. Or we could do a swap deal with the systam you have and some cash my way, let me know________________________________________ |

I am happy to swap systems with some cash your way, but my exhaust is only 2.25" so not good enough for flow with SC , and my centre section needs replacing. ________________________________________ Chris1999 China Gti6 Supercharged [Fun car] >>Project Thread<< 2000 Bianca 306 Diesel [Work runabout] |

A new fitting kit is around £1200 so I don't know how you think a second hand used charger that's as good as out of warranty is worth £1300?! That's within spitting distance of brand new price. Second hand unused C30-94's change hands on eBay for around the £1k mark so knock a few hundred off that for a used one. Around £1700 is realistic for the kit + charger, and around £2200 as a complete S/C conversion package with everything included. ________________________________________ Rich |

all depends on how much value you put on your time, stripping a car is time consuming personally i would value my time at 15 an hour minimum. think about it selling each bit to a potential tosser, waiting in , no one turning up. scratching around under your car for 2-3 hrs a night in the p*ssing rain as someone wants to give you 15 pound for a lambda sensor. why is a s/c kit worth 2.5 k when it has been on a car for 2 years and the warranty has run out on the charger?personally i would bite the bullet and let it go fror 3900 as i think you will struggle to get over 4k for it ________________________________________ puglessPhase 1 GTI 6 1996-1997 Subaru Impreza GB270 2007-2008 rare spiderman comics same day international courier |
