That's odd, they're really good tyres. Considering how grippy they are I would suspect other factors are involved in the reason why....

It's been hot and dry for a while, followed by lots of torrential rain to bring all the oil and shit out of the tarmac.

T1Rs were great for me, nice and progressive and just take it a bit slower in the rain. Especially when its been dry for a while....

T1r's were very average imo. Gripped well when new but get halfway through the tread and they are rubbish. They didn't last long either. Got about 5000 miles out of the fronts and 8000 from the back. Got PE2's on now. Much better. Smile

Drive like a c*nt and in 5 years of buying them easily 14k out of each set once up front before swapping to the back to finish them off. You've clearly bought fakes.

Actually 28k between the last purchase of all 4 and 2 are still on the car and have been for another 10k. So on average maths 14k on the fronts which isn't too bad considering I used to eat P6000's in about 9k miles.

I found the T1-R's to be good in the wet and dry, but found the shoulders wore out after 6000 miles or so (in 50 profile).

I also found that when i first put them on (ie brand new) they made the car feel very unstable but after 20 miles or so they seemed to be fine. Almost like they need wearing in? Anyone else find this or know why?

Cant say i agree with TP as ive had pirelli P6000s before and would say they lasted almost twice as long.

Usually new tires come with a protective coat to keep the rubber from drying in storage. this is what's causing the slipperiness..
And yeah they do wear fast it's 280 TW (Tread wear)

Never rated them tbh, the budget crap I have on the Speedlines seem to have more grip.

Rainsport 2's ftw, much more grip in wet or dry at a similar price, or PE2's if you fancy shelling out. The low wear rate of PE2's make buying a cheaper tyre a false economy Thumbs up

I've got toyo prox 4's on and I drive them hard every day and I've been gobsmacked how long they've lasted atleast 12k so far and still going.

Unless you do wheel spins everyday in mcdonalds carparks or spend a lot of time on track I don't know how you do it.

I drive down a lot of country roads and corner hard but they just keep on giving.

I have T1R and there fine. Drive Nd corner hard. Last well enough but the side walls go too soon. £40 a tyre + fitting and im not complaining.

tires have a lot of scrubbing, they squeel round most corners when pushing on and my brakes stink/cover the wheels in dust after each sprint or two

The only thing I can think of is if you don't do any long journeys? each tank is split between 45% motorway/a road miles traveling to/from destination.. 10% town whilst im there and 45% redlining through twisty countryside roads either at that destination or in the local countryside

Try Eagle F1 assymetrics. Seem to be very good on the volvo so far in 17".

Don't really rate the T1R in the wet tbh. Good in the dry and the wear is acceptable.
