Looking sweet, loving the paint finish. What sort of paint do you use? Flash times? Laqcuer when wet?

It's a lechler solvent basecoat and a lechler 2k lacquer. Flash time for base was about 10 minutes between coats and then 20 minutes before lacquer was applied. That was at room temperature (18) degrees with the extraction on which gave a lot of air movement in the booth to aid evaporation. I then lacquered the door, bonnet, boot jams and inside wheelarches with 2 coats 10 minutes between each coat. then I applied the lacquer on the outside with the doors, bonnet, boot closed. The car got 2 coats of laquer with a 15minute flash off between then I let it sit while I cleaned my guns for about 30 minutes before baking it in the oven at 60 degrees for a further 30 minutes. I made sure it was piping hot before serving!

You make it sound so complicated and... sexy. Maybe it's the gun bit.

The skirts have given the sedan a much better profile, looks ace Thumbs up

I've been waiting a few weeks for the paint to settle down and shrink before wet flatting and buffing. So I've got off my arse and started.
I wet flat with 1500 grit, then I go over it again with 2000. G3 cutting compound next and then some finer abrasives before waxing.

It's G3 honest!

Epic finishing skillz mate. Agree with everything up to the Megs crystal compound though, would have personally gone down the SRP/Black Hole route topped off with FK1000p, each to their own though. Just never been a fan of Megs polishes, compounds work wonders though.

Out of curiosity, why G3? Much easier to use products out there like Megs #83, always found G3 to be too chalky and it gets everywhere!

G3 is super fast cutting. I hate the mess too but I suppose I'm a creature of habit and have always used it. Megs ultimate compound applied by hand is unbelievably awesome. It leaves no swirls whatsoever. The polish was just for the hell of it, and then carnauba wax which by the way is the ONLY wax in my opinion.

TBH i was a wax fan, used HD wax and Dodo Juice on my sigma paint but the yellow isn't great with reflections so i'm trying fk1000p and fk425 QD. Seems to have come up lovely but only one coat so far, adding another tomorrow.

Carnauba gives great warmth to the paint but i've never found it lasted too long, especially liquid waxes.

If you tried meguires carnauba you wouldn't use anything else. It's so easy to apply and once its dried on your buffing rag just glides over to leave the paint looking like candy that you can lick! I am so enthusiastic about this product. My mate wasn't a believer as he'd always been an auto glym man until I gave him half a bottle of this. He now buys it for his black focus ST500

Which of those products dis you apply with the rotary polisher, and which by hand?

Can you buff wax off with a DA/rotary polisher, with a new attachment or summit?

Or is that an elbow grease job only ?

Edit: oh yeah, excellent work !!!

G3 by rotary to restore the finish to a "good" shine after I had wet flatted with 1500 and then 2000 grit paper. Then the other products by hand. The ultimate compound only took about 15 minutes to do the bonnet then about 10 minutes with the polish. Wax took about 5 minutes. Sounds like a lot of work with the compounds but once the whole car is done I'll just keep up the waxing.

I agree with pellow - the g3 is a bit old school, however, as you have proven yet again Daniel, if you have the ability to work with it, its still shit hot at what it does.

Reflections look great on the bonnet.

Old school cool! Cool its just that I feel confident with it as I've used it a lot in the past and know how to get the best out of it. I use it neat at first to really dig in and once I've done a few passes and it starts to dry out I mist some water onto the panel which reconstitutes it again but on a diluted and finer level which is where it starts to really put a shine on things.

Looks so much better with the side mouldings. The depth of those reflections puts mine to shame.

Thanks for the great comments. I can't believe how much better it looks with the badges/mouldings on. I'm really liking the grey with dark wheels.
