The shouldered washer i made has an outer diameter of 25mm, around 3mm thick so hopefully that will help spread the load and avoid distortion. I went with M8 capscrews for mine, havent managed to snap any yet! :fingerscrossed LOL

Thanks Adam, there will most likely just be a lot of wheelspin unless i decide to try running it n/a for the day Laugh

Looking good mate Smile I can't believe that you can still drive it with no lsd, even if I feather the throttle with mine in any typ of damp I can have wheel spin up to 100mph+ with no lad in the box. Fair play to you looks an absolute weapon. Pugfest this year?

Pretty much exactly the same as mine, there's not a lot thickness there so needs something to spread the the load out so you can get enough clamping there.

Yeah it does make it a little tricky to drive without an lsd. The first 3 gears are pretty much useless if i try and accelerate whilst turning in the dry, and in the wet its happy to spin up in 4th aswell Doh

Yeah i'm hoping to go to pugfest, most likely be taking this car all being well, but i'm wanting to do a trackday at the Nordschleife on the 8th of April so that all depends on whether the car survives that Laugh

I know what you mean about the subframe being quite weak in that area Phill, the previous washer i had used now looks like a taper washer Doh LOL

Time for another small update, I managed to finish the s/c coupler parts at work yesterday.

I also made a spacer so my idler pulley can now fit on an auto tensioner.

And removed some of the material to make sure the belt won't rub since its an 8 rib belt rather than the standard 6 rib. This still needs a bit of fettling but it's getting there now.

Hopefully tomorrow i'll do some more work on the shrouds, and get round to ordering the an fittings and braided line needed to plumb the new oil cooler into the setup. Smile

In all my years as a member I have never once read this project thread and have had the pleasure in doing so for the last 90 mins.

Some cracking fabrication skills and commitment to the cause in getting the supercharger set up working Thumbs up

I just have one question though, did you ever sort out the paint patch in the rear bumper Laugh

Thanks Stef.

I was working on the car again last weekend, i had the inlet taken off the 'charger and i reckon it looks like the outer part of the lobes at the inlet end might just be starting to skim the outer housing which is whats causing the awful noise when it runs.
I guess i didnt need to make the coupler setup after all then Doh Oh well, it can only help extend the life of the next one. LOL

Does anyone know of a reputable company in the uk that will recondition one of these for a reasonable price?
I'm thinking i might source the next one then send it off for fresh bearings etc before i fit it, hopefully that will make it last a little longer.

the rotor pack bearings cant be replaced from experience and gathered info as the bearings are crimped in. Snout bearings and seals are available on simply bearings etc.

It's not when he's buying enough Eaton chargers to outdo the forum for hot air.

Doh Yeah, the cost is starting to shoot up with all these 'chargers i keep turning into scrap!

Next question then seeing as you cant replace the rotor pack bearings, is there anywhere that sells brand new rotor packs?

I've been emailing a few american companies tonight, just waiting for responses. I found quite a few bad reviews on john bond which put me off a bit, i dont like the idea of paying a fortune for something plus all the shipping only to have problems and have to try and deal with returns with somewhere in america.
I have seen a few brand new units for around $2,200 which is roughly £1600. Once again though, if im killing them with a problem with my setup i don't want to spend that amount only to scrap a new one at that price! LOL

I like the idea of an m90, but i don't want to have to re-design and make all the brackets, manifolds, pullies, pipework etc again from scratch, i can't use the machines at work for car parts anymore so im kind of stuck where i am for the time being Doh LOL

For now i might just keep going through 'cheap' second hand units and maybe consider getting a boost gauge to try and monitor whats happening to boost pressure at the superchager outlet, hopefully that would give me an idea whether its getting a quick high pressure wave when i let off the throttle, or whether theres simply too much air for the Tial to get rid of when i close the throttle at high revs and the boost level is staying too high until the revs drop.

You'd need something fast responding to see it, and you want before and after charger sensors so you can see when your PR is spiking since you're running twin bodies - if you've a pressure spike behind and vacuum up front then your pressure ratio's (and hence reverse flow damaging the rotors) could be massive, even though the actual airflow is low.

I've been running it without the upstream throttle body since fitting the Tial Q dump valve, so there should only be pressure between the 'charger and throttle body, the thing i'm not sure about is whether there is the initial pressure spike when i close the throttle before the dump valve opens to release the air, or whether there is simply too much air being pumped through at high revs for one dump valve to handle causing a long period of above normal boost pressure if that makes sense.

I can't believe how much air is coming out of the dump valve at idle, so god knows how much it's trying to dump when the 'charger is spinning at 12k. Dunno (Just for the record, i know i can actually roughly calculate that, its just a saying LOL)

Oh yeah, i had a reply from the local Mercedes parts guy earlier, i can get an exchange unit from germany in around 3 working days for just shy of £1300+VAT

Could be, they're only really good for a PR of about 2 on most eatons I think on the official specs? Have to check on the 45, don't use those dinky little blowers Whistle
