Hi, New to this forum and this it not about a 306 but I know some fit the V6 peugeot engine in the 306 and I am told this is the best forum to discuss transplanting the V6 in to another vehicle.
This engine is going in to my Buggy that I use for comp safari events to replace the very lacking in the torque departnment NA MR2 engine and gearbox that is in there at the moment.

This engine has come out of a x reg 406 coupe and it is the later, slightly more powerfull D9 engine. The first problem is finding out if it is multiplex Wiring or not, I keep hearing different things from all D9's are multiplex to none are multiplex until 2002 and everything in between!
I had to make a decision this morning weather to go with this engine or have the earlier D8 and tried to find out about the multiplex wiring last night and this morning but got no replys, this morning I rang a peugeot dealer who had the vin number off me then said it has the earlier key so is not a multiplex but then said oh hang on it says here it has a Something with 3 letters I can not remember the name now but what ever it was would suggest it does have multiplex so he said he was not sure. Also the indicator stalk center boss looks the same size as the earlier d8 ones and the later peugeot 407 has a bigger one.
All very confuseing maybe it was built using what they had left

I believe if the car it came out of had the later 210bhp es9j4s engine but had the older style radio and cruise control stalks (long and thin as apposed to the shorter stubby later one) then it will be van bus multiplexed rather than full can bus multiplexed.

I do not have any details with me but it has 3 seperate plugs, will get and post more info tomorrow.

Does this mean it is possible to make up a loom to run just the engine and clocks?

Does it have fly by wire throttle? Thing is that only parts of the loom may be multiplex. The engine might be but the radio not and vice versa. I was under the impression that all 210 engines are. That's why I used the 198 in mine. More tuning options on the 210.

thats what my impression of it was, but I never looked into it any further as I had heard of all instances of the 210 engine being used having Aftermarket ecu's, and that a 194 engine was used LOL

Welcome to the world of peugeot parts, they're all built using whatever was nearest at the time LOL
Do you have any close up pictures of the fuel rails?

That's what I thought but servicebox does actually list late a varient of D8 looms for early D9 engines, Hmm

I realised after you'd left that 2055 gti drivers is not open to new members so you may not be able to get on there.

Is this engine much the same as the d8 except vvt? I see the exhaust is very different, are those cats just after the manifolds? it has 4 lamber sensorsShock

I know it would have been easier to have gone for the d8 but I know if I had gone for the d8 then lost out by a few seconds a lap I would be regretting not fitting the slightly more powerfull engine, also this will be the 7th different engine/box set up I have had in this buggy and want to make sure this time is the last Smile

Slight tweaks to the manifolds as well over the d8. The exhaust manifolds are still quite restrictive however, I think that's where the clio picked up a chunk of it's extra power.

No same bottom end. Different inlet manifold, throttle body, cams, heads, exhaust, wiring, cambelt, coilpack arraignment (iirc), water pump and tensioner (can be retrofitted to earlier).

Quite a few similarlities between this engine and the Clio V6 however. If you can find one then use that instead Wink

(Yeah forgot it was 194, not 198. Mine was 202 though Razz)

'S 'cause he had to see you bladdock.

You should see a fair increase from loosing the cats so long as you do a decent job on the rest of the system.

If it is the multiplex then chuck in clio cams, decat, de-restrict the manifolds and get it mapped. Happy days!
