After talking to Matt at pug1off It looks like the V6 with VVT engine is a non starter (at least for now, I will keep it in the hope someone comes up with a cheap way to get it working) so I am going with the older version V6.I am told the pre 2000 V6 only needs 4 or 5 wires to get it running from the engine loom 2 round plugs and I assume this is after the ecu has been de coded? also I do not think the ecu was un plugged in the correct way so may have lost the memory. Can any one tell me who could sort out my ecu and then which connections I need to get it going. wiring diagram would be a big help also if any one has access to them. Thanks Lee. |

Pre 1999 was the swap over, 95% of the D9 shape, Facelift had the later engine inAnd to get the D8 engine going you need to remove the ECU with the Ignition on the running posistion but without the engine running, Mind getting them unlocked is only around £80.00 now ________________________________________ 306 Rallye Sptint/Race Car, 205 CTI 1.9 8v to name a fewRoad, Track and Race/Rally car preparation to your personal requirements, Full Workshop & Diagnostic Facilities New and Second parts, from Plugs to Turbo's We now also carry out Routine Servicing www.pugracing.com & FB Page, https://www.facebook.com/PugRacing Ebay; http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Pug-Racing-Shop 2012/2013/2014/2019 Class Winners at Gurston Down Speed Hillclimb & Joint overall, Class record too along the way, |

I had a quick drive down the road in it today (406 V6 VVT D9) and it goes very well, lots of torque and very smooth with no flat spots which is exactly what is needed for a 2 wheel drive off roader. When I got back to the workshop I was revving it up to get the temp up to check the fans were kicking in, The fans kicked in and at the same time a hissing noise started, The noise was air blowing out of what looks like some sort of diaphram in the inlet manifold (see pic) This did not happen the other day when I got the fans to kick in. Any ideas?? offroad 68 has attached the following image: |

Pressure valve, saves the manifold blowing up, The S16's have a habbit of doing this and holeing the inlet________________________________________ 306 Rallye Sptint/Race Car, 205 CTI 1.9 8v to name a fewRoad, Track and Race/Rally car preparation to your personal requirements, Full Workshop & Diagnostic Facilities New and Second parts, from Plugs to Turbo's We now also carry out Routine Servicing www.pugracing.com & FB Page, https://www.facebook.com/PugRacing Ebay; http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Pug-Racing-Shop 2012/2013/2014/2019 Class Winners at Gurston Down Speed Hillclimb & Joint overall, Class record too along the way, |

From what I gather the early engine looms were only part multiplexed and can be used in engine conversions I think down to the fact that certain things like signals for the gauges etc are still transmited in an analogue form. You might want to try speaking to a guy named Adam who works at repairgeot near me who put the engine in a partner van see here http://www.talkaudio.co.uk/ipb/index.php/topic/317628-v6-van-project Then again it may be more hassle than its worth.. who knows. |

The engine is now in and running fine, just not sure about this valve letting air out?. I tried to contact the guy with the van but no reply, I decided to have a go,I have cut down the loom to get rid of most of the stuff I do not need to just run the engine but kept the immobiliser and not had to get the ecu de coded. I have no engine management or ABS lights on, I was told it could not be done and stand alone ecu is the way to go. Basiclly its just putting the engine, loom ect ect in to a space frame instead of a peugeot 406 shell but cutting the parts of the loom not needed including the ABS. |

Can anyone tell me why or when this pressure valve should open and is it a problem? Also I can not understand why there would be positive pressure in the inlet manifold unless it was turbo or supercharged, surely the engine sucks in what it needs? Thanks Lee. |
