Right well i thought i'd start a thread on my diablo project car as i made a start on it today.

The plan is to make it into a track car that i can occasionally use on the road.

I was going to keep it N/A, but i couldn't resist the temptation of boost!! LOL So i ordered up a low boost kit from Rich W.

Anyway i made a start on the project today and got it in on the ramp.

I started by changing the front suspension and fitting a set of D2 coilovers from mxcrazy, haven't started on the rear yet as i am looking for an uprated ARB to go with my 21mm torsion bars and D2 rear shocks.

I welded up a spare set of rear beam mounts ready to go on with the other bits

As my fitting kit should be arriving early next week, i stripped down the front end and removed the ancillaries bracket.

Now i haven't been looking forward to cutting the bracket up with an angle grinder so when this turned up last week i was very pleased. Big grin I must take my old man shopping more often LOL

It took about a minute to cut it up Cool

I tapped out the holes used for the supercharger bracket

So i gave it a coat of paint and left it to dry while i started on changing my steering rack for a vts rack.

Now ive got the pipes disconnected and unbolted but i'm struggling to get it off the column??? any ideas?

So ive left that for now and have refitted the ancillaries bracket and alternator.

Thats about it for today, but i will have another go at it tommorow

Dave

Right well a little update,

Spent some time on friday and most of today and have got it running!

Everything has gone fairly smoothly with no major problems

Pressed the charger on

radiator and fans fitted

And intercooler, oil cooler etc

So its all fitted and ive just fired it up and it all seems to be running nicely.

I'm yet to take it out of the workshop for a drive but i'll hopefully get some tax and insurance on it mondayCool

They go under the cross member for now, its not going to be sitting as low so it shouldn't cause any problems, but if they do i'll have to make some up to go around the radiator i suppose

Right bit of an update:

Been on the road since last tuesday and what can i say but it is an awesome machine.

Running the charger in was a bit boring but after 80ish miles i opened her up and am loving it. Definately feels faster than my Leon Cupra R which was mapped to 250bhp and so much more fun.

Loving the noise it makes from the pugsport decat and magnex pipe (nearly as much as the coppers i went past friday morning, when they caught me up he said he wasnt expecting it to be a peugeotLOL )

Handling wise it is massively improved with the coilovers and 21mm bars. The xsara rack is a great upgrade aswell and i would definately recommend it even though it was a b*tch to change

Really need to do a bit of work on the outside now, even a wash would help Whistle

Also fitted my new suede wheel, really pleased with the quality of it for only £40!!

And a couple of the bay

Great job. Must be nice to have the skills to fit one of these yourself...bet it saves on the cost a fair wack.

Get yourself a battery cover! LOL

Give it a nice wash and get some pics...the paintwork completely comes to life on a washed/waxed diablo i find!

Smile

Not as much castor that way around, I'd switch 'em around the other way myself.
