I must say Kev, the power curve on yours (and mine tbh) were some of the smoothest there today, plus yours sounded awesome. The poor old car is on axle stands in bits again Tax was up end of Feb so thought SORN it for a month(hopefully) and get the tank down and front subframe to de-rust/paint the remaining underside I did not do when I first bought it Also got a VTS rack to fit Planning on doing the cambelt/water pump while front susp is out of the way too. Once the tank was down I inspected the brake lines and found quite a few patches of rust/corrosion on them So I've ripped all the pipes off,and the compensator and ABS! Will re-pipe it with a single line under car with a bias valve in it then a T piece at rear to each side. Not much rust to report thankfully just the odd bit of surface rust on spot welded areas etc ________________________________________ Red GTB1756 powered Fabia VRS daily driver,LBSC Gti6 eater........Mac1 ZR R1 kit car build in progress. |

Had a surprise when I unbolted the upper subframe mount, water ran out of the hole! Would explain the state of these, proper water trap Nearly forgot I'm refurbing a pair of front hubs too At the beginning: Degreased and wire brushed, then into the DEOX C : Out of the DEOX C,rinsed, wire brush in the drill then wiped over with Metal Blast: Looking good, totally rust free now ________________________________________ Red GTB1756 powered Fabia VRS daily driver,LBSC Gti6 eater........Mac1 ZR R1 kit car build in progress. |

Bufty boy phase three!Good work gramps, be lovely when its done i'm sure. You going down the powdercoated route for the subframe? You know the little cups that bolt to the front rails, that were full of water, they are actually two pieces, the cup and the square headed section, they just rust solid together. Give them a clout with a hammer and they'll come apart to be soaked in the deox. ________________________________________ 1999 Astor Grey GTi-6 OEM+ (now gone...)2004 Aegean Blue 206 GTi 180 (also gone...) 2006 Skoda Fabia vRS in Sprint Yellow honestly3k wrote: Do you wrestle for a living matt? Thanks in advance, Marco It's a universal 200 cell sports cat off E-Bay welded into a Magnex de-cat pipe Pretty sure Magnec de-cat pipe is 2.5. Cat was circa £100. matt evans wrote: Bufty boy phase three! Good work gramps, be lovely when its done i'm sure. You going down the powdercoated route for the subframe? Its some young lad from the local car club. Right heap it is, got a 620ti engine/box in it, we were just waiting for the thing to grenande on the rollers, alas it didnt, but it was boost cutting at 14psi, with an enormous backfire!________________________________________ 1999 Astor Grey GTi-6 OEM+ (now gone...)2004 Aegean Blue 206 GTi 180 (also gone...) 2006 Skoda Fabia vRS in Sprint Yellow honestly3k wrote: Do you wrestle for a living matt? Typical converted bubble then by the sounds of it. Most 'young lads' made them as they could convert a 214Si or similar to a 220 Turbo with ease without telling the insurance. Still running his standard ecu then with the bleed valve replaced with a maxed out bleed valve. Surprised he hasn't just added a motobuild tuning chip innit. even with the boost cut removed mems extrapolates fuelling curves beyond 14Psi anyway, your engine survives solely on the fact it ran rich to start with. The engines are bulletproof on mems to be honest, especially with FMIC he's pretty safe at 14. ________________________________________ I'm Si btwNight Blue VW Golf GTD Bianca LBSC Rallye - Track/Road Slag Project Thread Sparkling Silver Mini Cooper D - Super Dooper - (The other half's wheels) |

let us know how easy it was refitting the subframetake it there is no risk of fitting it squint or anything? i bought a few bits from Pug to replace rusty cups and bolts a while back, i never done it cause i new it would be a fair amount of prep work before i put it back together ________________________________________ TEAM HIGH BOOST SUPERCHARGED RALLYEMy Rallye project thread |

I bought new pointy plastic bits, cups and bolts new from Pug and scratched them up, Electrox and then silver paint (except plastic of course!). Sprayed Dynax UC on them once back together. My new subframe was etch primed (B-H Etchweld) then satin black painted, with Dynax S50 cavity wax sprayed inside. Haven't got fuel tank off yet though. ________________________________________ Cherry Rallye SOLD |

I know what you mean. The other day I had the genius idea to shoot the lacquer onto my C5 wheels before I went to work as it was near ideal outdoor spraying weather - i.e. not raining or windy. Good job I did as it was raining when I got home and hasn't stopped raining since. And I can't do it in the garage because the slightly disassembled car is in there. And I don't think my wife would like a partially lacquered kitchen floor. ________________________________________ Cherry Rallye SOLD |
