the chassis hooks underneath are so you can hang the car up on a coat peg when you get home from work after a long day of being a 306 driving hero

Took the front chassis/box sections down to bare metal and all the way down the floor pans that are usually under the heatshields as there was corrosion/bubbling.
Three coats of Rust Bullet on,will hopefully get a coat of gloss on tomoz weather permittingSmile
Also cut off the heat shield mounts I won't be using when re-buildingWink

Looking good Kev, I know how much of a ballache it is doing it from doing mine. I haven't got my heat shields off yet though. One of them is being replaced soon though.

Are you leaving heat shields off entirely or replacing them with something?

Gotta do it all on your back, it makes you appreciate it more! I've got a fine sheet of ply that I use to slide under mine. Next thing on my list for the garage is a lift, it's surprising how cheap you can pick one up nowadays

I use cardboard boxes as I've got loads from all the house moves. Cardboard insulates surprisingly well in the winter.

You need a very high roof in your garage though!

Few more bits coming together now thankfullySmile
New subframe mounts compared to old:

Drain hole added to new ones so they don't hold water:

VTS rack built up,new boots, track rods and a steering ramWink

Never seen it mentioned on here before but the Gti6 track rods are longer than the VTS ones, you could use the VTS ones but you would have quite a lot more of the threads protruding on TRE.
Nylock nut used to help keep the water out of track rods:

Needed to replace the inner CV boot on drivers shaft, and also when I got it off the intermediate bearing had play in it and felt rough when spun,so looked for parts but ended up getting a Drive Line rebuilt shaft for less ££ than parts to repair mine!

PAS pump re-location kit fitted, excellent piece of kit this IMOCool

Pug would only supply a bag of 20 nuts for the drive shaft intermediate bearing retaining pinsRoll eyes so bought some off the bayWink deeper and easier to get too than the shallow standard onesThumbs up

Looking great Kev. As I didn't think the plating would last long I painted my new subframe mounts before installation too, but I didn't think of a drain hole which is a great idea. Might see if I can get a drill in at the right angle???

I painted my VTS track rods like you did and greased the threads, the garage didn't comment that they were different and it all seems to work.

Yeah the VTS track rods will be ok,its just there will be circa 20mm more thread sticking out to get the tracking setThumbs up
You will be able to drill the mounts from in the arch area I would guessSmile

Those nuts look much better than standard, I had to butcher one of the ones to get mine out since I rounded the bas**rd so I'll be ordering some of them off the bay. Don't know the link for where you had them from do you?

Are you giving all the front arches a refurb like the underside has had?
