Took the front chassis/box sections down to bare metal and all the way down the floor pans that are usually under the heatshields as there was corrosion/bubbling.Three coats of Rust Bullet on,will hopefully get a coat of gloss on tomoz weather permitting Also cut off the heat shield mounts I won't be using when re-building ________________________________________ Red GTB1756 powered Fabia VRS daily driver,LBSC Gti6 eater........Mac1 ZR R1 kit car build in progress. |

Looking good Kev, I know how much of a ballache it is doing it from doing mine. I haven't got my heat shields off yet though. One of them is being replaced soon though. Are you leaving heat shields off entirely or replacing them with something? ________________________________________ Cherry Rallye SOLD |

Gotta do it all on your back, it makes you appreciate it more! I've got a fine sheet of ply that I use to slide under mine. Next thing on my list for the garage is a lift, it's surprising how cheap you can pick one up nowadays________________________________________ 205 GTi Red - G939 RTU - Died!306 GTi 6 Diablo - Being resurrected! Looking great Kev. As I didn't think the plating would last long I painted my new subframe mounts before installation too, but I didn't think of a drain hole which is a great idea. Might see if I can get a drill in at the right angle???I painted my VTS track rods like you did and greased the threads, the garage didn't comment that they were different and it all seems to work. ________________________________________ Cherry Rallye SOLD |

Those nuts look much better than standard, I had to butcher one of the ones to get mine out since I rounded the bas**rd so I'll be ordering some of them off the bay. Don't know the link for where you had them from do you?Are you giving all the front arches a refurb like the underside has had? ________________________________________ 205 GTi Red - G939 RTU - Died!306 GTi 6 Diablo - Being resurrected!
