Mintex 1144 or 1155 or 1166

the 1144's are 20 quid cheaper than other 2, but what are the main diffrences between them? im wanting to use mintex as was happy enough with the 1144's in the wilwoods on the road.

im after something great on the track, im running kad 6pots.

If it's serious track work you'll probably kill 1144's, 1155's with some ducting to the discs will stand up to most sessions, 1166 are aimed more towards long sessions/endurance events.

Well im just wanting somehting that can stand up to 10mins on track every half hour so 1155s should be ok for that?

I got banned from there for daring to suggest that running into the back of the car in front is probably not the car in front's fault...that and giving basic maths lessons, they really didn't like that, I think the communal brain cell overheated Whistle

Sounds about right. I was on the greenlight insurance website and they have a list of cars they don't insure. Saxos were one of them (no mention of 106's)

What pads would you recommend for midilites?

Also could you make up some brackets and bells and rotors to fit midilites behind cyclones without spacers?

If so PM me with a price.

I'll have to have a look and see how much room there is to the balljoint.

Those new Bluestuff NDX's I've had do seem to be a really nice road/track pad, I'm still a bit hesitant to recommend them though given EBC's past track record when it comes to pads jumping off the backing plates.
If you don't mind spending a bit more money on pads I think some XP8/XP10 or the Mintex F4R/F6R's would probably suit you nicely - and they all last very well so they do work out fairly cheap in the long run.

My feedback on the pads mentioned:

1155 – did not like them: poor release (difficult to drive in the wet), overheated them.

Pagid RS4-2 Blue – probably the best road pad: last for ages (30k road miles and 3 track days – still 50% left!), good bite from cold, not up to heavy track work – overheated them around track.

F6R – the best track pad that I used to date: feel exactly what the brakes are doing at any time, they do not like slow speed driving in town – chew through the discs.

CL6 – very similar to F6R, even worse on the discs in normal driving.

XP10 – have them on the car right now, not completely sure yet: very high initial bite, very high friction coefficient (can lock up on slicks in the dry), little dust, gentle on the disks but not convinced with the feel yet.

EBC NDX Bluestuff – a bit of a surprise, the first pad from EBC that survived heavy track use (300miles on low boost 306), always feel that there is a bit extra that they can give, lasting well.

Mintex F6R is what im after then is it? i will pm miles for a price for these to fit my calliper.

my car wont cover that many road miles, blast on a back road or down to a RR day although i could just take it on the trailer. although im not wanting to eat discs, are they ok on track mate for not eating discs? just im running a modify focus rs disc and cant be arsed hasseling my mate to modify them each time i need a set

XP8's are a bit more gentle on discs but also have less stopping power to boot.

problem with the brakes is they look to wear at an angle same as the wilwoods did, so id probly get about 5 track days out them and they would be shagged, how much we talking for the xp8s or the f6r's?

im going to just run unipart standard focus rs discs i think as there cheap.

In my AP fitment (3215D50) the F6Rs were about £140 and lasted 3 track days, 18laps of the ring and 3k road miles = set of discs. XP10s were about £200.

RC 6's ftw! However they do get the fluid and consequently the caliper rather hot! They paint actually went black on my front callipers at oulton, but the brakes never faded one little bit! Cool

It's because they're brazed rather than bonded/rivetted to the backing pad, a stainless steel shim behind them helps a little

I liked my RC6s but they didn't half go through the discs. Fine if you are using standard cheapy GSF brembos. Dust/metal shavings aren't easy to shift either.

Might get some for the impreza as the current ones feel like hamsters instead of pads.

well im planning on running discs that are only costing me around 12 quid a disc to buy in at cost to garage, so discs not that worried about, but how long do the pads last?
