Trying to resist carbon parts. I am going to buy Shakey's door cards (aluminium)

Spend money on things I need, then start putting money away for trackdays next year Devil

Had a bit of time on the car today. Couldn't get hold of my mates decent jack so couldn't get the exhaust on Sad

So I started on some stripping and prepping for the cage.

Removed seats and carpets, and started on that shitty sound deadening stuff in the footwells. As it was cold, opted for the hammer and chisel approach.

Here is where I am up to now. Both rear footwells pretty much done.

Hammer and chisel worked pretty well actually Yes I think the heatgun would get a bit messy and hard. Problem doing it the way I did is nearly blinding myself with the sharp bit flying round. Got a few cuts while picking some of it up. Gets bloody sharp Doh

Also removed the door cards which was a piece of p*ss with the help of Nev's thread. Top work Cheers

As I am getting new flat door cards, I am thinking of what to do with my speakers.

Since deciding to turn it into a track car, I have always wanted to keep it good for weekend drives, and also still bearable for getting to the track and trips to the 'ring.

I really want to keep my speakers, so I have thought of making something up in the glovebox? Thought this made the most sense, as when the cage is in, the glovebox cant be used anyway?

What do you guys rekon? Ways to do it? Wonder if vittesse_tuning could make me a carbon bit Hmm

Good work there chris. whats wrong with just keeping them in the doors? cut the holes out in the door cards when you get them and leave theme where they belong.

It seems like the door cards stick out, so wouldnt be enough room for speaker in new door card? It would stick out? Will have to have a look when the door cards get here.

they do a little but you could just have a pod made up for them to sit in or run abut of foam around the back to fill the gap in. here is mine but you will have to zoom in to see it better

You need to remove your centre console Razz

Also, the black rubber thing behind the pedals (which you have removed), does it go up behind the dash?

i have left the center console in for now so i can keep my loose change in the ash tray but will be coming out soon enough.

yes the rubber thing goes behind the dash, you cant get it out unless you take the dash out or cut it. i just used a stanley knife to cut mine out. i cut every part out that i could get to what leave a small but left stuck under the center of the dash

i also see your airbag ecus next to you door. get them out you wont need them without the standard seats Razz and i cut all my airbag wires out so no more airbags in my car LOL

Chris, I agree with Eddy on the speakers and if you cant open the glove box with cage in wouldn't it be better to rid of it? Ninja

Loving the striped interiors though chaps Big grin
Don't think i would do it myself, love the half leathers too much, particularly if its the ph1/ 2s Love

I went out to do some more of the car tonight. Could hardly get in it as the doors were frozen shut.

I removed the airbag units from the footwells and started chiseling some tar shit out. After about 5 minutes I gave up Laugh

Chiseling by torchlight in a car of minus temperatures is not too fun. Will leave it til the weekend I think Yes

I love the lightweight idea of a polystyrene cup Smile

I will check it out when the doorcards get here, if they still fit in the door, it's a bonus Big grin

Hmm, not sure mate. I bought half the kit second hand from a member on here, so I managed it for about £100 I think.
