With any luck my coilovers should be on their way soon, and looking likely rollcage soon too Hyper

Aiming to man up in the cold this weekend, get exhaust fitted, and start on stripping more from the interior.

The sound deadening stuff in the front footwells, what is the best way to get rid of this? As its cold, am I best off using a hammer and chisel?

Nice thread had a good read of it all, about time you took the front carpet and 7.5kg of sound deadening behind the dash out

Yeah cheers Seb, seems spot on. I got the voicemail when I came out the pub last night. Cheers for sorting it out for us Cheers

Hmm, will need to get hold of a heat gun. At least I will be warm in the car doing that Laugh

Not looking forward to taking the dash out though!

you can take most off it out by cutting and pulling with a stanley blade if you cant be bothered to take dash out prob leave 2kg behind that way

DONT USE A HEATGUN! No
makes it more difficult, it reactivates it as such and makes it sticky again.
get car cold as possible, open door windows etc and just gently chisel it out Yes it will come out fairly easy and in chunks Thumbs up

I found a heat gun and a paint scraper worked wonders, use the gun to warm up the sound deadening for a few inches in front of the scraper and you can peel it off in greal long unbroken strips. It took no time at all to get mine all out. After that a little thinners on a rag removes any residue left over. Damn sight easier than chiseling it off cold, but then I don't have Lotek's biceps! LOL

I would rather use a heatgun as it will warm up the car in the process LOL

I don't have a heatgun though, so may have to go for the hammer/chisel approach.

Do you have a hair dryer in the house? That’s all i used along with a wall paper scraper mate, worked a dream. if you scrape it right you will be able to get it out in a couple of bits as once you start scraping to lift it heat the rest up and pull. Took me about 15mins max to get all 4 bits of mine out Razz

get the airbag ects and wires out, its easy enough to do once the carpets are out.

yes mate i used the hair drier and it worked fine for me Big grin i also used it to get all that sticky blue stuff off the roof what was holding the roof liner on. mine is just about as empty as it will get unless i remove the dash. made a start on painting the inside. i have also moved my hazzard switch and rear demister switch to the right hand side of the steering wheel and filling a volt gauge where they use to be and my battery is behind the passanger seat.

I didn't think you could leave the roof liner in when fitting a cage? Unsure

Or have I got that wrong?

Doh Blush

Well cheers Chris! haha.

When I pictured it in my head, thought that bar that goes across the top of the windscreen would foul visors etc.

ahh yeah Sad

In true "rallye" style though I have already replaced the airbag with top glovebox. Will be only storage place I have left. Door cards are going, centre console is gone, and soon to loose glovebox.
