Right, after Andy@EBC insisted the company has been turned around under the new management and that the new 2010 compounds are a leap forward in performance and, more importantly, quality control, he offered me a set of the new compound Bluestuff to test before they become available off-the-shelf, so, even though I swore never to fit EBC again, it was worth a try to see if the pads live up to the claims, so, onto first impressions:

Fitted mine tonight, in the dark, probably not the best way to mess with brakes...
Anyway, I've only run around for 10 minutes to bed them in, but first impressions:

Noisier than the 1144's on the wavy discs - they don't squeak at all, but you get a notable 'whirr' when slowing like with grooved discs, that the Mintex only displayed above 60mph - might go away once they've done a few more bedding sessions, we'll see.
They bite well enough straight from the box that they feel like OE pads - only when they're bedded in to the disc and you build the heat to get the pad working properly do they ever drop below that level - and that's only because of some green fade as they transfer material across.
As soon as letting them cool slightly after the fade goes, the initial pedal bite and outright power I would say is about 10-15% better than the 1144's, but they were getting better and better and the pedal was firming up on every stop, so I'll update again in a few hundred miles with some fade and wear reports hopefully.

Mine came with rubber anti-squeal pads that Andy recommended I didn't take off, but being me I'm afraid I've ignored him put them in the bin in the hope of better pedal feel - I haven't had any sort of squeal at all, but that's not to say you won't get it on standard discs, as the wavies suppress 95% of squeal anyway.

I'll whip 'em out a few times along the way to check for any signs of seperation or crumbling too, although these new pads are supposed to have an interface layer to increase the surface area for bonding the pad on, so hopefully there'll be no more scary moments from the compounds having fallen off the backing plate...

Don't know yet but he reckoned they'd probably be cheaper than 2500's/1144's in the same fitments, so probably about 70-80 quid, and about 40-50 for the rears.
Obviously my pads are a different shape to the gti6's though.

Never mind the bite from cold, what are the friction levels on your palm like with these fitted (are they paying you commission)? Wink Razz

Nah but seriously, it's always good to have more choices. We could do with updating the FAQ section it's very old by now and there have been a lot of developments since then - not to mention Carbon Lorraines and the frankly awesome Mintex F6R that is now my favourite pad.

Yeah, that was my initial thoughts, but we'll see...
On the upside, I've got the backing pads from the 1144's I can use to send off and have some XP8's built on, saves me making some!

Cant be any worse then the 2500's.

Got the report back saying it was a caliper issue. Funny how the previous 4 sets i had no issue, and the standard set I have on managed snetterton and silverstone and so far done 2000 miles and still have plenty of meat on them. The DS2500 did 600 miles and fell to bits

How does the cold and hot pad work compared to OEM and 2500's?
are they road legal?

Or XP8/10's....
PF01's aren't bad either...
I haven't tried the DS3000+ on a road car yet but they felt great on a 6R4 I had a play in a while back.

Well the F6s don't release corrosive alien weld-blood for brake dust (unlike the Carbon Lorraines). Ask Denis or Ash about them, they're the ones who put me on to the Mintexes Thumbs up

I loved RC6's on my bike, hot, cold, dry or wet and they still bite like fook, but I went through a few sets of rotors!

These EBC's are just getting better and better as they bed in, definately got more power cold or warm, and a firmer pedal than the 1144's too atm.
See how they change as they get a bit more bedding in on them, I haven't had them truly hot yet apart from the initial bedding as I want a few hundred miles on them first.

F6's and F4's are getting unanimously good reviews from the rally lads though...
