Update time again.
Finished off porting the head today, here is a pic of the casting line that runs all the way around the middle of the exhaust ports

I couldn't bring myself to start lapping the valves in so I modified the Ancillaries bracket so that it would accept the supercharger mount. I know in Richw's instructions it says use a grinder but I'm an old school engineer & decided to do it the hard way!!!

I was quite shocked at how p*ss poor the casting was with loads of flash all over the show so I set about tidying it up, here is the finished article

Trial fitted onto my spare block

I'll take it for sandblasting this week

Cool

id put it in some of bilt hambers solution less chance of any bits being left in the block. Smile

Today's update....
I started off by cleaning up the valves.
Here is a typical exhaust valve before.

With the use of a pillar drill & some emery cloth.

I got to this.

Next came the bit that I've been dreading since the start of the project, lapping the feckin valves!!!
You all know how you do it with the piece of wood with the suction cup on the end, well I'm a bit older than most & it really hurts my hands so I decided I'd just do the exhaust valves today & the inlets tomorrow.
Here you can see before & after pics of the valves

And the valve seats

Now this was all going fine & dandy until I got to the 3rd pair of valves, I lapped them both as normal & when I took them out to inspect the surfaces I found that only half way around each valve had cleaned up .... Feckin bent valves!!!! That would explain the very faint tapping I had after the last £2k rebuild ( the feckin so called Peugeot specialist robbing cowboy bas**rds), just makes makes me think how much quicker it would have been over the standing qtr if the valves had been unbent...grrrrrrr

So I need 2 new exhaust valves on Monday!
This is where I'm unto now, let's hope I don't have any bent inlets, I'm sure I'll find out tomorrow..

Cool

Well I finished lapping the rest of the valves today & (thank fook) I didn't find any more bent valves, so off to the local main stealers for 2 replacements in the morning.....

I was asked the other day how I have fitted the two electric fan heaters that I bought from Car Builders Solutions.

Here are a few pics of the passenger one installed.

For anyone thinking of doing this you have to get quite serious with the grinder on the back of the dash removing all the unnecessary plastic to end up with a flat surface to bond them to

Cool

Well that's the $52,000,000 question!!!!
I guess there simular to the STD blower on low & the air that comes out of them is quite warm, the jury is out until I drive it about a bit though. All the way through this build if I could take weight out I have, the original heater set up is very heavy so had to go & the excess plastic I cut out of the dash was a real bonus weight wise. If they are not man enough for the job I can always fit a heated screen but I'll wait & see how they perform first.

Cool

Laugh my ass off all you want Meirion, I've spent hours & hours removing a few grams here & there, the thing is they all add up!!
Today for instance I spent an hour rounding off the edges of the two engine lifting eyes, it probably only saved 10 grams but I am quite anal coming from the nuclear & aerospace industries.
I want to be well under 1000kg when it's finishedNinja

Cool
