Right then, guess it's about time I started a project thread!
I like my trackdays..

& a bit of drag racing..

I took it as far as I could with the STD engine, fully stripped interior, updated suspension, richw's roller brg wishbone bushes, phillipm's rosejointed droplinks, 330mm discs & brembo's 4 pots & 17" alloys.
The next step was more power......
Normally aspirated looked the way to go, 250bhp was doable, not cheap mind with high compression pistons, wild cams & throttle bodies. Then Ford & Renault started bringing their turbo nutter bas**rds out, suddenly na was not the future! Even with a little nitrous!
Around that time the news broke about Richw's beast. I kept in close contact with Rich & when he announced the first batch of supercharger kits I put my name down straight away. True to form Rich delivered.
I knew I couldn't run 400+bhp with the suspension I had so I sourced some Koni coilovers, 23mm torsion bars, 30mm arb from Ash & a spare beam to get to work on.
Now I knew that I couldn't do this work in the street with all the shady buggers round where I live so I started looking for a garage. I tend not to do anything the cheap way so I found a unit in an old milking shed on a farm out in the country. I bought a ramp, bfo compressor, mig welder & loads of tools that I thought I'd need. This lot put a massive hole in my finances.

I started by rebuilding the spare beam..

CRF450 (Martin) machined my trailing arms to achieve a little bit of negative camber, so I carried on painting..

Special discs from phillipm.

Tb's & arb

I fitted new bearings & seals, assembled it all, wrapped it all in cotton wool & put it on a shelf.
I the removed the old beam & found that the single layer of paint found on Rallye's had done fook all to prevent rust. Now this is where I made my big mistake! Because I'd made a good job of the beam I wanted to make a good job of the rear end, looking back I should of just caked it with loads of underseal but no because I'm a cock I got carried away...

Next thing was to fit the beam with some shiney solid mounts from BBM.

A little negative camber..

And phillipm's discs

Ride height exactly the same as Martin's

Rear end DONE!

Made a start on the front...

Is that rust I see

Several weeks of grinding, grinder mounted wire brushing and we get to....

A couple of mods to the strut tops for the KAD adjustable top mounts

Front end DONE

Next came the interior.
I wanted a cage but I wasn't too happy with the cages on offer from SD & OMP, I came across a for sale thread on this forum for a SD challenge spec bolt in cage, Binka did not need it & for what he was asking for it I couldn't resist!
In she goes

I thought bolt in, it will be a piece of p*ss to fit, how wrong could I have been!
I had to weld 17 yes seventeen plates to the shell so it took me ages, I got arc eye, radiation burns & shitloads of spatter down my neck not to mention I'm getting on a bit now & I'm a fat bas**rd so I'm not built to spend several weekends on my knees bent double welding fecking plates in place.
I then got stuck into cutting as much as I could out of the back of the dash, I've only got this pic when I was half way through it

I fitted a couple of these fan hatred into the top of the dash as I've done away with the heater

Then came last Xmas, the wife bought me an Xbox 360 with Modern Warfare 2 & I have not been to the garage since, until this weekend that is.
I've loosely fitted the front suspension, rolled it out of the garage for a good clean up & started stripping the engine so I can start building it to high boost spec with all the goodies I have laying about.

More updates to follow!!!!!
I did this all on my mobi so please forgive any typos!

Cool

That's a nice WIP thread. Nice to see once fully done.

Any idea on the weight lost thus far?

It started life at 1140kg, I've weighed quite a lot of the things as I've taken them off & there are fg bonnet & boot, Kevlar wings & plastic windows to come. There may even be fg doors too. I know it will be well under 1000kg but just how much under only time will tell!!

Cool

Fight, fight!

That's a serious exhaust manifold gasket you've got on the shelf down, bet that took some porting.

Looks like a very interesting thread my friend, I'll be keeping an eye on this one fo' sho'. I thought about getting some of those electric blowers but was assured they're complete crap, have you tried them out yet?

Clear water from the disc easier and you don't suffer any knockback from the boundary layer of water.
