Well first job for today was to drive 40 miles over to Wigan to pick up some wheels from stey cleary, nice deal as he took the old beam off the Rallye in part ex, cheers SteThumbs up

Next job that I've been avoiding for ages was to make a start on stripping the engine........
The head came off fairly easily tbh, there were 2 cap head bolts on the rear cam carrier that had been rounded off, had me worried for a minute then I hammered the next size up hex head in & they both came out a treatWink

Next I took the sump off, the oil pump & splash tray. By this point I had a box full of bits..

Oh & a couple of manifolds that will be of no further useNinja

Crank & pistons out

Don't forget the shims on No2 main brg, there are 4 shims in total, I nearly missed the 2 in the block but I had spotted th 2 in the cap.

The oil spray bars are held in place with 2 bolts & come out easily.

The block is now fully stripped & ready to go & have the bores opened up for my low compression Wossner pistons.

Tomorrow I'm going to make a start on the head as it did have a slight tap after the last £2000 rebuild when it span a big end. Fingers crossed it won't need much work. Hmm the thought of lapping 16 valves is making my hands sore!

Cool

Nice work Wayne, you stripped that engine quick, also started my High Boost conversion today, I have a High boost engine already built though ready to drop in,
I will probably do a project thread myself although all I ended up doing today was dropping the gearbox oil and taking the driveshafts out (Grand Prix started followed by bud and cider LOL )
Just need a Lsd and maybe Vts rack for mine and then I have everything,

Looking forward to the updates Thumbs up

Hmm, a VTS rack like I prepared earlierWhistle

It took me 4 hours tops to fully strip the engine, I bet (Carl) mechanical repairs can do it much faster!

Cool

Nice project mate. I'll keep checking in for updates. I assume the VTS rack provides sharper steering?

It will have been in the garage for 2 years in December......
I don't think it will be finished this year purely due to finances, there's probably another £2k to spend on it yet.
Engine rebuild £700
LSD £650
Injectors £150
Windscreen £150
Perspex windows £400
Fibreglass bonnet & boot £300
Kevlar front wings £300
New front rotors £250
Brake lines £200
Fuel lines £150
Bucket seat £450
Powder coating £150
Remap £600
Respray £700
Bung for mot tester 1 bacon butty
Rear shocks off Phillipm £450

Fook that's a lot more than £2k, looks like it's going to be well into next yearDoh

Cool
