there are a couple of little chips in the bore but nothing big. i wont be using that block for my rebuild tho. i will get a better look at it today once i get the whole lot stripped down. i found chunks of piston and the valve seat inside my inlet manifold and sump. all i need of this block is the crank if its ok

been on all day stripping both my bottom ends down and making up one good one. striped the 1st one down whet has the hole in the piston, all i needed was the crank and shells, once i got them out and checked them they were all fine, not a mark on them. started with the 2nd bottom end what had sized big end bearings on conrod 4. stripped it down, removed crank and shells ande gave all the bits i was going to use a good clean. built the block back up with bood shells and crank, torqued them down to what it said in the book

big end: 25nm then a further 70degree turn
main bearings: 20nm then a further 60degree turn

put everything else back on, oil pump ect... and it wouldnt turn over by the crank pully. so i took it all apart again re tightend all the bolts and put it back together and still no joy Sad

think am just going to buy a new engine and save the hassle on. Angry

I've just done exactly the same thing, with the help of Welshpug and Ash. Hope you get there mate, that piston was a mess Mellow

I'm sure it's something simple why it isn't turning, I'm afraid I don't the knowledge to advise though.

did you use the original crankcaps from the same engine? or the ones from the other block?

new piston rings?

Jon's engine was very tight due to the new rings, but still turned over fine with a spanner.

Check the main caps are all in the right way round, not just in the right numerical order, they will fit both ways round and when you torque the caps up it nips the crank. I've done this before.
