Was the car a tapper, thats normally the end style for them?

Carl

It was, i feel a but unsettled watching this thread as i sold him the car. Apparently the car had had some head work done two years prior to my buying it and had been a tapper ever since.

Chris (eddy) said it was the quickest 6 he'd owned so it was running ok but obviously didn't last. Sad

Yes it was a tapper, ran fine and didn’t miss a beat until all of a sudden I lost power and threw a hell of a lot of white smoke out. most of the damage to the piston is off the stem of the valve. I could tell there had been work done before, found missing bolts, different head bolts and the cam pulleys labelled.
Whats the best way to clean my inlet manifold out? It’s thick of oil and dont really fancy putting it back on till I clean it.
i have a spare block that am on building up now and chrisd306 is supplying a head for me so hoping it should be back up and running soon.
while its off the road am taking the chance to remove the a/c as it doesn’t work, but then again whos does? LOL also moving the battery to the back and fitting an oil catch tank. Just little bits and bobs for now.

its my birthday in just over 2 weeks so if anyone has any gifts for me to get my car up and running please feel free to pm me for my address Whistle

Aye mate, you may end up needing to use both petrol and a degreasant of some sort, and you'll almost certainly need to flush it all out once the petrol/gunk has done its job. Pressure washer is as good as anything.
