I am in need of some new brakes for the Megane, the Mintex's are not common on the Meganes but I can get them. I already have HC Discs and uprated fluid ready to go on/in.

I know they are pretty popular on the GTI6, although the cars are different I was wondering if there is a difference between the DS2500 and the 1144s.

Anyone had experiences of both?

DS2500 £130
1144 £63.88

(The only pain is the Mintex's don't have uprated rear pads)

1155 are more on par with DS2500

Just replaced my hi spec's with new disc and pads. Which i'm now running with the Mintex 1144's which i seem to like at the moment feels really strong braking. haven't used them on track yet, but they do seem to make a lot of brake dust.

I was under the impression that Mintex 1144 are available for the front and rear as Jonnie205 and (I think) Miles both stock them? Just read they are for a Megane Thumbs up

Surely the excess brake dust is due to the pads being new, and you are still braking them in?

I've never used the Ferodos but use the M1144 and they're a great pad. Don't squeal on my 310mm setup.

The Megane has 312 and Brembo calipers, so I guess they would be roughly the same. At half the price of the Ferodos I'd be happy if they were as good as the standard pads.

I had 1144's on a few years back and are better than standard but they developed a squeal that I could not get rid of so I binned them and went back to standard pads.

I drove Neils white 6 (iplay) last summer which has DS2500's fitted and they are supurb. Way better than the 1144's.
My next pads will be DS2500's Yes

The only thing with D2500's is they're a bit wooden on the first stop or two compared to 1144's, but better after.

But for £130 for a set I'd be saving a few more quid and fitting XP8's or PF01.

agree 100% with that - Had DS2500 and XP8 on the evo and the XP8's completely DICKED the DS's in all areas other than.....squeal Sad Tried everything to get rid of it, 3 kinds of discs (blank, slotted and drilled) chamfering 45 degree angles on the leading edge, anti squeal shims, rubber backing plates, copper slip - everything, and no change. So went to the DS2500 as I couldn't cope with the noise, it was awful. As it was my day to day car it bothered me, but for a weekend car I would have lived with it!

XP8s are about £180 for the Megane, if I decide to use the car for track more often I'd just pick up a set of CLs for the track days. The standards are more than upto the job on the Megane at £90 a pop so not really wanting to spend double that for road use, would rather put the money towards tyres Wink

£165 for the XP8's.

They're silent on the buggy and the 206 Jim Dunno

I'd go with the 1144's if you're not wanting to spend that much, great road pad, just a touch soft.

strange aint it? some people have loads of issues with squeal and others don't when used on evos. Mine was ear piercing!

I use the Megane caliper on my ex btcc 406 coupe, run the standard brembo pads. No noise and good consistant braking on track.

Yes, i had a set on my Rallye a few years ago. I did however send Ian old pads for him to re-line. He may well have them in stock now.Cool

ive got mintex 1144s in my track car and took a good pasting on track and were good, also good on the road to, so will probly stick with them although there 1144 m series if that makes a diffrence.

I've used both on the GTi-6. DS2500s were infinitely better and let you pull up much quicker.

I run 1144's, bloody brilliant pad just the squeal is unbearable. Fine at high speed braking just low speed is awful. I'm half deaf, has it's advantages Big grin

Where can I get an individual tube? Mintex only sells in bulk

EDIT found it £2.49 from camskill.

Take it you apply on back of pad and holders
