I've just had a new powerflow exhaust made up by topgear performance in Doncaster, car is much smoother on bottom end now as it was blowing at every joint due to the engine mount problem I had last week.

gutted, had new exhaust, updated map, was running lovely and I've just hit a massive pothole/ ditch at the very edge of the road on the way to work in the dark, the tyre is popped and alloy probably f*cked, at the least.
Am I looking at a new strut and wishbone and the lot on that corner now as it was a big impact?
I didn't want to use it on the shitty roads too much for this reason.

Ouch Sad

Sorry to see that after such little time on the road.

I would check for signs of damage to suspension, cracks in paint, anything visibly bent etc but not replace it straight off.

Get a alloy back on and get it tracked, then try it and see if it drives ok/any sounds/knocking etc from suspension and go from there.

i cant see anything damaged other than the wheel, but the car wasnt driving 100% before, the castor is out and i think this is making the car steering feel not nice, i just cant work it out why though as it was fine before.

removed subframe this afternoon and wishbones ready for powdercoating, I'm considering replacing the wishbone on the pothole side of the car.
I'm not sure wether to get the subframe done boring black or have it livened up a bit and go for yellow or something crazy!

oh and I snapped one of the big bolts from the front subframe mounts, to say I went very careful on the 2 13mm bolts that hold the little cup/mount that holds this bolt into the chassis was an understatement, it would of been a nightmare if one of those had gone.

Finally had a spare hour and removed
The subframe, gotta get hold of a nice powdercoated one now, was going to buy new but it's changed and I don't know if that's better or worse.
got a new front anti roll bar and had it powdercoated red along with the front subframe mounting cups:

fitted the new powder coated subframe today, trouble is the
Hubs and steering rack look scabby now, I've refitted the p/s strut as I removed it to check it over after hitting the pothole.
I've not got round to fitting the powdercoated wishbones as it went dark on me but I plan on spacing them forwards a bit with washers as I think thats what messed up the castor and handling.
There's going to be some huge updates going in over the next 6 weeks or so, I will have a sorted car that's gong to be very special after, can't wait!

I planned on nudging the subframe forwards to increase castor but this new one I've acquired has sone plastic locating pegs on it and the old one didn't so Im going to leave these in as there's plenty of room to space the wishbones forwards slightly:

The hubs and steering rack are next To get powder coated there going to look well scabby once the wishbones are on.
Been an idiot a bought all new bolts and forgot new washers but the subframe will be off again very soon when the new engine goes in and the engine bay gets painted!

Don't know yet my friend it's still on the stands, I'm hoping I can get wishbones on when I get home if I have time, looking at the gap in the subframe recess with the wishbone in place I would say there's a good chance it will as, I can get the Wishbones 2-3 mm further forward with some washers for spacers, surely this would get the castor back to where it should be.
I had to drag myself out to get Somthing done yesterday as I'm tired and making in motivation, however once I started I enjoyed it and it's always nice to fit Somthing new and painted or shiny!

The one that hoes into the p bush?
I reckon it's all goingto be pretty tight to get the arb bushes and p bush tightened up due to been slightly thicker because of the powdercoating!

I was going to fit the wishbones while the subframe was off to make it easier to get that bolt in and get the arb bushes lined up right but as I'm layed on my back on a half finished driveway that's stoned up and not surfaced yet and I was trying not to scratch the subframe, I decided to make it lighter to lift so left wishbones off, I'll have to manage, but from what I can remember getting the arb and bushes to sit right is a pain in the arse without a ramp.

I've been told they all have the locators and I've also been told that never seen them before.

I lifted the subframe on a jack and as I guided it into position, my son did an awsome job working the jack.
There's a couple of scratches from the stones but nothing to worry about considering the surface I'm working on!

I spaced the wishbones cowards by a 1mm washer, I don't think this is going to be my issue I think it's a case of f*cked hubs I will know for sure soon when I get the wheels and droplinks back on.
It's been horrible building it all back up I couldn't get car around the back so have been working under it on a drive half finished just stoned up.
Not enjoyable at all.

I put 2 washers at the back of the front bush and 1 at the front of it.
I guess the 1mm washer hasgiven me roughly 1 degree extra castor.
I feel a definate improvement.
The alignment needs doing again as it feels out on the p/s after the pothole but after that I'm hoping it's bang on.
Wether it's better because it has extra castor or fixed the problem I don't know yet but time will tell, I'm not used to the car yet.
It will be delivered to Rich w this week for a dramatic engine and engine bay upgrade, slightly different to other high boosters Ninja

Phil where can I get one of those from? Or even an outdoor ramp?
