Honestly I don't know, but I don't see how a liquid can reliably displace 100% of a gas when it's got physics working against it. Only way to see is to try it, and see if the temperature at the top of the cooler is the same as the bottom like a radiator.

Clicky

Good idea, I will see if there is a temperature difference once it is running.

...and thanks for the clicky

There are things you can do to help, as Matt hinted at personally I'd remove the cooler and fill it the other way up, then re-attach it once you knew most of the air was out.

Generally, the high system pressure and the viscosity of the oil means it can capture pockets of air and drag them around to the sump, if you don't have the outlets on the top any remaining microbubbles tend to get compressed right into a corner of the tanks and do very little to affect performance.

I've always mounted mine upside down as I like to disconnect the pipes when servicing so I can get as much of the old contaminated oil out as possible and never had a problem with the cooler not functioning properly, if you are worried you could as said unbolt it and flip it over with the engine running but it's hardly worth the effort.

It’s alive!!!

Finally got the car started today – not for very long as I still need to fit the exhaust then run it in.

Also started modifying the seat sub frames to move them over a little, the initial seat position was a little too close to the door.

Below if the photo of the harnesses (which I was going to post last week, but forgot)

Yes Sabelt manufacture these harnesses.
Just run out of FIA approval, hence why I bought them at a good price.

Fitted the exhaust and decat so it is a ‘little’ quieter now (unfortunately the exhaust is a Magnex and I am pretty sure it is the noisiest thing known to man! – was meant to be a mongoose, anyway it will do for now)

Stainless steel decat:

Also managed to move the car for the first time yesterday, not far just enough to check it could actually move change gear and stop!

I have also taken a very short video of the car starting and running.

Video Link

New parts arrived;
> Smaller door mirrors
> Smoked side repeaters
> Harness eyelets and backing plates

Fitted the door mirrors, side repeaters and front grill today;

The engine still starts no problem, but we noticed that the rear of the car is lower one side more than the other – another job to the list.

Have not been on here for a while so here is an update to see that work has not stopped.

Firstly we now have the car level and had the 4 wheel alignment checked and adjusted.
Next was some heat reflecting foil to go under the bonnet

Fitted both seats and harnesses in their final position (hopefully).

Strut brace fitted

Next was the heated windscreen + wiring

Took the car outside and noticed a knocking noise from the front drivers side wheel. Luckily we found out this was only a faulty drop link, which we have now changed

Need to does some work on the trailer to make it road legal (some tyres, new brakes and possible some wiring). After this we are ready to do a local track day as run in (nice and slow Smile )

Hi, sorry for the delay in responding.

I got the reflecting foil from a friend at work (I will ask him tomorrow where he got it from)
The heated windscreen is from Ricky Evans motorsport

It is not the cheapest, I was lucky that the person at work only needed a little bit and was happy to give me the rest Smile

It does stick very well, I've seen some cheap stuff in the past which falls off after a few days.
