Thought it was time for me to give you a quick update on the project.

Work completed;
> Head Skimmed
> Painted head Red Whistle
> Had the inlet manifold and rocker covers powder coated white (not a very practical colour)
> Head reassembled and fitted to cylinder block
> Attached the lighted flywheel and clutch
> Attached timing belt (ceplaced the camshaft pulley with the later design ones)
> Attached the gearbox
> Wired in some new power wires
> Had the engine cup reinforced as you suggested DaveyBoy
> Fitted the engine into the shell (Never though the day would come!!)

Currently finishing off the wiring and fitting the pipes & parts.

Just need to save up for some more parts and then we might get around to starting it up!!

Here are some photos:

It’s Red

I'm soooo f*cking jealous when seeing your nice engine Sad Sad
I just put mine back on the road a week back and it passed it's MOT without any problem, I just didn't have the time, patience and funds to make the engine look like yours so i simply swaped the engine in my black one.

Car is looking ace Mate, keep the good work up Thumbs up

Another weekend of working on the car - jobs completed;
> Connect the power wires and earth wires
> Mounted the ECU
> Plumbed in the fuel lines and water pipes
> Fitted the radiator and fans
> Trial fitted the oil cooler and bumper (just enough room to fit)
> Fitted the aero bonnet catches

Next jobs are to fit the induction kit, connect up the oil cooler and put in some oil (then watch the oil pool on the floor where I have forgotten to tighten a bolt or split a pipe without noticing – lol)

Photos:

ECU, wiring and pipes fitted

Oil cooler test fit

+ Catches fitted

For the next jobs

To be honest I still need to do some reading into the bedding in process (have not started it yet LOL ). As it is only going to be used on the track I am not sure what is going to be the best method, any ideas?

Great - thanks for posting the link Thumbs up

looks fun Crazy

Only problem I have is trying to drive that many miles as the car will not be insured for the road. Might see if I can arrange something at a local track/airfield

Few more jobs completed:
> Repainted and fitted the slam panel
> Adjusted the bonnet catches
> Fitted the Pipercross induction kit (needed a few pipes to make it fit) The intake pipe goes to the fog light hole.
> Fitted the bumper (hopefully for the last time)
> Fitted the headlights

Also bought a second hand exhaust to get me going for now + a pair of 6 point harnesses.

Hoping to have the engine started before the end of the month, once I have bought a few more bits and pieces.

Headlights, Panel, ect

How are you going to bleed the oil cooler of air when you fill it up? Unless you have some way of pressure filling it, or its easy to whip off and turn the other way?

Massivly inspiring project though. It's a credit to you

Oil pump won't get the air out of the top of a cooler mounted that way up though.

When I was looking into the oil cooler I came across an article from Mocal which said the following:
“Oil coolers may be mounted anyway up and are self bleeding, the resistance to oil flow through the matrix means that tanks will fill up pushing out the air before the oil flows through.”

Is this wrong??? (you have me worried now)
