Ok folks just so you know im not a chav.. i actually own a 205 gti6 aswell as an r5 gt however i have a 306 1.9 td that i picked up very veyr cheap as a run about..

I got sick of seeing so many vw' nuts going on about low this, low that . so decided we would see if a 306 can be dubbing. therefore ive lowered the rear end excessivly, and now need front springs to match, question is does anybody do a 80mm lowering spring ?

Sadly mate i dont think a company make a spring with such a drop but you could try using 60mm 1.0/1.1 springs say off a 205 to lower it even more as the weight of the engine may depress them to a greater effect

I can not say this is a good idea as the spring rate will be miss matched but it may just get that look you after

hehe cheers ash.. yea it is pretty much a pointless spec exercise, certatinly not a case of making it the best handling car in the world, but just a bit of cheap fun really Smile..

Cheers for the idea/advice Smile thanks

get coilovers and remove the helper-spring, will get you lower than 80mm

cheapass coilovers (like v-maxx) should do since you won't have any 'handling' left at that height..

Anything lower than 60mm looks shit tbh...

The helper springs are there to allow you to run lower to start with, so removing them isn't exactly the best idea...

Laugh The fact when the cars on them, They're compressed and only take up 10mm too.

IMO if its fitted leave it unless you can find a longer main spring or just buy different coilies

Anyways custom springs here Based in Sheffield, Few of teh members on CS have used these and seem to be ok

Personally like this on their website Laugh

mines lowered 60mm, imo it looks nicer over standard ride height but the ride quality does suffer..

LOL

why not get some decent 60mm springs, so they are firm, and ive them the chop, just one coil so it gives you the right sort of height.. and wont be TOO bad ride/handling.

obviously it will still be sh*t, but if its just for visuals...

just why would you need or even want to go that low?

fair do's lower = for better cornering but -80mm Unsure

i wouldn't go lower than -50mm
anything lower would look like the suspension just collapsed

but each to there own just don't take any stupid shortcuts that could proove dangerous! Wink

Thanks for the posts guys. Like i say its just a giggle really, i know all the effects that silly low springs have on cars, i know what makes a car handle, i know that its completely impractical.. but i want to do it, call me immature.

I think im just going to buy a set of the cheapest coilovers going and go from there. Smile

Whoopie cushions are also a giggle and can be bought for as little as 2-3 pounds.
