The gaskets are MLS construction as per the OEM one, with numerous improvements:
1. Three layer construction - inner layer is stainless steel, the outer two layers are spring steel with elastomer coating. The OEM item is mild steel.
2. Individual fire rings - inbetween one of the spring-steel outer layers and the central core, there are additional 'fire rings' around the cylinders. These are essentially thin, large metal washers, which provide an increased clamp load around the cylinder and a mechanical seal.
3. To give you an idea of the performance of these, I blew a Cometic MLS gasket on ARP head-studs after 700 miles on my 443 BHP engine. I then fitted one of these, which to this day is fine, 10,000 miles later. I've done a compression test - all 4 cylinders are within 3 PSI of each other - which on an engine this highly-strung is bloody good! It indicates there's no leakagebetween cylinders or out of the cylinders,
