Its Alive Its Alive.....Finished everything today so i cranked it. After a reset on the ECU it started first time. Idle is smooth as per normal with no hickups but once you hit the loud petal the difference is at least impresive let the sound alone! First drive return only good impresions as the engine pulls alot harder and you can feel it breathing more freely. Down sides are: When you blip the throttle at tickover it tends to choke a bit due to the lack of air filters and after my short run the engine check light came on as the lamda sensors where reading to much O2. So a remap is on its way for a fine tune and a dynno to see the gains!!! As for the air filter i was thinking Pipecross but i am going to fabricate an induction box the WRC style that will suck the air directly behind the front grile just above the radiator. Now i can say that the custom plenum is working fine allowing the Stepper and Map to do their work. The only sensor that didnt make it on the way is the preheater on the OEM body. You dont need it anyway. So far so good. Total cost by now just about 350quid which i think is a bargain..... Now that i know that it works i am going to fabricate a proper plenum to replace the one on the car and if there is any interest will be available to order with a set of restricting caps to go on top of the bodies cutting down the air flow allowing safe run till a remap. Photos so far... Conclusion: Its worth every penny for it's money. Special thanks so far too Rich_w and to millic333 for the bodies. well done Yanni!that idea with the plenum for the MAP is awsome! I was thinking something same, but I can't decide now as I'll get Satchell bodies, and don't know yet whether I'll need a MAP or not... will ask my tuner! I'm looking forward for the induction box aswell! What rad, will you use? Sorry about the engine after the winter and with this project still running there is no point on cleaning it. When everything is finished eveything will be nice and clean. As for the box for the air filter stay with me juuuust a bit more. Plan is to make something that will fit above the OEM radiator. There is plenty of room up there you just dont see it I am also working on a PDF file that will upload here with all the info on fitting the vaccum hoses the wirring and everything else you need to do the same. Today i finally found some time to work around the air filter box. It is amazing the space you have under the bonnet and you dont see. What you see is a template i made for the filter box. I deside not to use the standard type off air filter but something like a K&N OEM style that will rest in front of the box (alla WRC). Also there is plenty of space above and below the slam pannel so air flow is not an issue and the bonnet closes just fine!!! I am going to use alluminium sheet at this stage but later on will fabricate that form Carbon fibre. Anyway photos off the setup... Motivation was very strong so i believe that someone owes me a bi@#$h??? PS. If anyone can help me with trumpets please send me a PM. It seems that its harder than i imagine to get a set here.
