This is just a quide.
You can use any carb from any bike as long as the internal diameter is suitable for our engines!!! Its just a matter of spacing, connecting wires, vacum hoses and using a plenum like mine to make it work with the OEM Ecu really. To make your life easier though its best to use something that doesnt have the electronic throttle as you need the link for the throttle cable.

I am in the process of finnishing the finnal plenum setup with some minnor changes. This is a universal plenum that can be used on any setup on our engines allowing the full use of bodies.

I just need to finnish the cold air feed box and take the car for a remap to say that this project is done!!!Cool

Anything from 42 to 44-45 mm will be fine. Standard issue for any 900cc bike up.
And correct me if i am wrong!!!
Mine are 42mm

they make the intake tract longer, typically on a pug engine the longer the better, to a point.

though that point seems to be right at the front grille LOL

The remap is due to next week!!! Main reason the lack of air filter box. Thats going to be ready on friday as i dont have time to make it sooner. Today i mannage to find the air filter i was looking for a nice K&N 420mm long and 90mm high. That should do the trickRoll eyes

I also had to fine adjust the idle as it was a bit high and it turn to be a small vacum leack on the inside of the bodies. A bit of metal resin and everything is nice and smooth at tickover just below 900rpm.

I temp put a foam filter i had in hand and took the car for a quick spin.

I can get away with the remap as there are no hickups now and the engine pulls hard really hard above 3200rpms but i think NOT as the engine light still stays on as it keeps on reading to much O2 on the exhaust. Dont forget mine runs on two lamda's and makes things even worse.

Anyway if you want to make the most of them bodies you need to feed them with something and i dont mean airLOL

Will keep you posted about the progress once i have the box and filter in hand.
And for you Xsara people once the box is ready i will upload the scematics for you to make one if you want Thumbs up

Yanni.

A bit of a long update.

On Thursday we loaded the car on the AA and drove the long way to the RR.
First impresions where lets say toooo optimistik.
At first the engine was running too lean. We talked and talked about the route to take on mapping or not the standard Ecu and at the end we came down to the conclution that its not neceseary to do so.
Probblem solved partialy with the use of a new fuel regulator. All the multiplex XU engines use a 3.5bar reg so we went down the road for a new one from Bosch at 4.0 bar's.
Now the initial chocking when bliping the throttle is gone and the engine pulls even harder.
At the first RR session my baby return 227hp on the fly but i believe that this figure is to optimistik as now the engine is running a bit rich.
Dont ask me about torgue fig yet as the finnal run is not completed yet.
The quyes ordered a new aftermarket fuel pressure regulator to go online for some fine tunning as we need to run between 3.9 to 3.8bar's.
Aparently the remap is not needed as the OEM ECU has a very good adaptivity up to 25% of the factory set's and we are trying now to foull it's limmits and tolerenceses.
Over all i am very happy with the outcome but i want to see the reall figures.
The car is now back to my garage and i finnaly manage to find some time to work on the air box. I used a clean sheet of alluminium 2mm thick and after some cutting and bending here are the first photos.

I did a bit of cutting on the slam pannel to clear the path of the air and the bonnet fits just fine on top off it. The airbox will be supported on the engine block so movement want cause any issues. Also the sheet goes all the way above the radiators so hot air is out of harms way. Now the only thing left is to finish the base plate for the bodies weld it on the airbox and collect the trumpets to go with it (many many thank's to Mr Rich_W)

Matterials for the airbox:

Hopefully by the middle of this week i will say that this project is finnished, give you the official numbers and move on to the Kit-car body preperation.

I hope you like it.

From Greece Yanni...Cool
