it moves fine thanks just without the engine at the moment Razz the engine is spot on though, when it's running. it's usually something else on the car that fails, never the engine.. hopefully combatted that by, well, removing everything else.. LOL time will tell

been a while since i updated this... nothing major to add. New JVC dvd/ipod unit fitted with a nice 12" sub, but nothing crazy just a nice subtle bass to compliment the coax's up front.

plan to change the cambelt and fit reverse camera and a few subtle body mods..

until then she rests in tranquility before the savagery of summer hits her!

So a bit of an update on the beast... resurrected on 1st of JULYLOL

Gave her new oil, filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, 4 new tyres and a cambelt change(much needed)Big grin and a spanking new midbox.

Decided to give the engine bay a freshen up with some powder coating and polishing... Couldnt source new manifold gasket so it is red for nowYes Although i do need the engine out sometime for a bay respray.

With it all ready inside, i spent hours cleaning it up on the outside which paid off with a electric buffer!

Off for a creative weekend in london.. which to my suprise was another learning curve... So many A roads which lead to tunnels = madness!

So good infact, it is name and shame time!

06 E46 M3 Amzingly very similar in power delivery
09 SLK 350 What a good match over some good roads
10 Porsche BoxsterS Time waster
09 Golf R32 Sooo much low down torque
09 Audi TTS Nutty turbo on it
08 Focus ST Too easy
Meagne r26. f*cking phenominal acceleration!

Cant believe how super car esque it sounds on boost... so i may need to tame it down with a bigger back box..

Amongst all that fun came woes... Noticed a burnt smell from the engine bay. Few miles down road it was making a weird scraping sound.. ENGINE OFF! inspection reveals the EVAP sensor loom got caught on the belt causing it to shear through two ribs of it and split the connection. So a quick rewire and all seemed fine till i could get a new belt... So i pootled along and then blip nothing... So i thought the belt had snapped! But upon closer inspection i couldnt see any issues.. More fear now as i wondered if the the fun had caused a compression issue, so started to strip the top off.. Plugs looked slighlty coked but healthy and took off ecu for a inspection of the socketed chip.. took out placed back in.. and it fired momentarily till you blip the throttle and it stalls! RAC on call after an hour of inspecting as much as i could without painfully burning myself!

Good old RAC came within hour to find me rebuilding my engineLOL... without sounding gay i met the soundest RAC patrol man ever.. Explained the engine conversion in detail, then explained the checks.. he pulled the diagnostics out... and tadaaaaa TPS short circuit! So i took the plug out only to find the AIR filter was chafing away at the wires causing it to break and short on the throttle body! He grabbed his soldering iron, cut away at the rubber and soldered all three wires back on. Fitted, cleared fault and off i went to pelt it with full power again!

Came back and he offered to follow me back to my mates from canary wharf then run to wembley at 2am(Euro Car Parts) and get back 6am to fit the new belt. Which to my suprise he did without a sweat! We also went through all the sensors and actuators with the diagnosticsSmile

The old belt was worn, badly worn and stretched in between ribs, guess is..it shreaded one rib which then wrapped itself round the wires. So please SC boys take your belt off time to time to inspect it thoroughly as it is highly stressed and could cause even more trouble...Sad

Will have to change the air filter i think as the collar doesnt have enough depth and with this warm weather the rubber around the connections get very soft causing alot of flex!

Next on the lines is a organic clutch and H&S exhaust system! Still waiting on some more carbon bits and bobs, but the big one has to be a new roofNinja

But one thing for sure its gonna be used alot more than it has last few months, even if it has no aircon in this blistering sunCrazyBig grin

Does look good mabs Smile

Ive had a few belts snap and come off, very scray, esp when they slap around the engine bay and deposit rubber everywhere LOL

Sounds nasty, glad you got it sorted though.

Getting the right RAC guy answering your call-out can make all the difference - I was in an old school car once and if it had been a young guy raised on modules and diagnostic testers, we'd have been f*cked.. as it was the guy wasn't so hot on ECUs but he knew his way around a pair of solex carbs and an old pushrod fuel pump like the back of his hand. Cool

Out of interest - how many miles would you say you did on the belt? I keep hearing stories of people going through them, I've done about 3000 miles on mine so far.. fingers crossed! Shut up

Nice write up Mabz Thumbs up

I have done about 4k on my belt at the mo with no issues, i will check it this weekend Yes Is it possible they can be overtightened? How often would one normally change it as a precaution? Only ever changed the old one once as it had some sort of hole in it Crazy
