sounds to me like binka bought the wossner rods and then realised like i did that they are 20mm gudgeon pin, had them rebushed to 22mm and they wern't upto the job anyway.matty rallye has the chinese rods on 240hp so they might be ok. not running monster power though yet and we know standard rods will take that so its anyones guess. |

Having re read it sounds like that to me aswell read it in a rush before. So lets wait and see would have thought forged steel rods should be able to take jsut over 100bhp more than standard rods. ________________________________________ Team High Boost Supercharged Gti-6™ |

Too many jumping to premature conclusions I think, including myself. I'm not worried. Sort of. ________________________________________ Hit the limiter in 6th gear at 169mph (GPS - TomTom on the German autobahn). Still pulling like a train too. I spun a big end when I used the OEM ally big-end shells, although this was when I used standard rods/Total oil too. I think the failure was down to the oil more than the bearings though. Use the best oil you can, film strength is crucial. Standard mains will be fine though. ________________________________________ Contact Details:rich@lynxpowerengineering.co.uk 07732 822546 |

Bit of an update for you guysI have built up the head, had the valve seats done etc and all the guides checked and where fine, slight head skim just to make sure its perfectly flat and was fitted to the block. Gave the head a good chemical clean and fitted a set of my painted cam carriers and the water/thermostat housing (will be very bling in the bay)- Its all more or less there now, will, have some rocker covers put on it then its a case of just fitting all the parts from the old low boost engine and slot it into the bay. Looking good Carl, very bling When's it due to be fitted and mapped etc? You need to change one of your cam cover mounting studs - you have a P1 style in the head and P2/P3 in the block ________________________________________ Contact Details:rich@lynxpowerengineering.co.uk 07732 822546 |
