As I've been on here for a while now I thought it was about time I got a progress thread up.

I bought the car in June last year after looking around for a GTi-6 to replace my 106 Rallye that was for sale.

I had my mind set on a GTi-6 due to being able to afford one for little more than my 106 was worth, but when looking around I came across something a little more expensive that I couldn't resist.

It was a 306 Rallye, in the same colour as my 106, and just in my budget. Although it had 124000 miles on the clock, the car came with a huge folder of history and the added exclusivity of being one the Peugeot press cars.

My aim for the next six months is to give it a few upgrades to get it ready for my next trip to the Nurburgring in August, but keeping all the original parts so that I will still be able to return it to 100% OE spec should I want to sell it.

When I first got it, spec was as follows:

K&N 57i induction kit
Ferodo DS2500 pads
Kenwood headunit
Goodyear Eagle F1 195/50/15 tyres
Flamebeater fire extinguisher

Everything else was totally standard, though I took the rear wiper off about 15 minutes after getting the car home.

So far I have fitted the following:

Griffiths Engineering quickshift
OMP upper strut brace
OE Clarion headunit (as I wanted to be able to use the CD changer and steering column controls)
OE spec Pirelli P6000 195/55/15 tyres (only because my Eagles were bald and these were

I would have, but it was easier just to switch it between the cars rather than retain it. Original plates should go back on when I swap them again Smile

Quick update for now, these were picked up on Saturday from Matsoki on here.

Should be on in a couple of weeks once the beam's been put on and I might even get them painted first too Smile

Also had the car overheat in some traffic yesterday and found the radiator to be leaking so I think a new aluminuim one could be required and I need to find out why my fan doesn't come on Sad

Very nice looking car. Looking forward to seeing the project unfold. The 106 rallye looked sweet too.

Tried a couple of the wheels on today just quickly to see what they look like, not that fussed on them silver, but I'm sure they'll look better once painted.

And how it should look lowered, with white wheels and centre caps.

Took the car for another rolling road session today. Was never happy with the reading from MTech, as all the results on that day looked poor. So I went up to Powerstation in Tewkesbury today, where it ran 170.3, pretty much what I'd expect Smile

Long overdue, this happened today...

I took weight saving to drastic measures.

And this fell off too.

And another beam went on, took us about 5 hours in total, but feels completely different now, very pleased with it Big grin

The wheels were sitting with the tops of them touching the inner arches, so looking behind it king of looked like /-----\

I'm not very technically minded so I don't know exactly what it was, think it's the bearings inside the beam.

I'm going to leave them for now Ash, I've had a few things come up to pay for that I'd forgotten (ADAC German breakdown cover and the dreaded car tax!) so I'm going to get those done first and see what money I've got left.

Thanks for the reply,I think mine is ok then.It does make a bit of noise at the back and the parcel shelf bounces when I go over bumps. They dont have to be big and It does it even at low speeds.I might get the bushes and shocks done.

Will be getting a set of Ph3 crystal headlights and a spare slam panel in a few weeks. Planning to paint the slam panel white as mine's a bit rusty and scabby and I think it looks out of place being black Smile

I've stuffed it up because I'm modifying it?

I've said right from the beginning that anything that comes off the car will go into the garage to be put back on when I eventually come to sell it. So in a year or two's time it'll go back to 100% OE standard spec, with the original number plate and all Big grin

its no longer the car from the magazine story lost the plate and now moving further away, Its been in the club a long time and always that bit special with the history.

plus what posessed you with the wheels

I take it you didn't read that reply then? The plate will go back on as with all the other standard bits.

I can tell you it's had a private plate in the past for a year or two and it's been modded before I had it, doesn't change the car at all. The history is all still there Smile

The wheels, not everyone's cup of tea, but lighter than cyclones and better looking if you as me Wink

I should start one of these for mine Razz

I really wanted some white superleggeras on my 6, because I looove them! What size are your ones? and are you gonna get them painted in normal white, or bianca white to match the car? I found that when I had my Super T's refurbed in bianca white, it made the white of the car look alot brighter (obviously because bianca white has a bit of black and yellow in it, and the bright white wheels against the bianca car paint makes the car appear slightly off white).

looks so nice so far as well, really tidy! Thumbs up

Mine are 16"s, not sure what white they're going yet. If I do them myself it'll be rattle cans of Appliance White from Halfords (used those on the 106 and it was perfect), but I'm hoping to have them painted properly by a mate, so will have them as close to the car colour as possible. I've heard that doing them too bright makes the car look dirty so I don't want to do that Wink

After the car overheating in some traffic a couple of weeks ago, the radiator has been high on the list to replace, it was losing about a litre of water a day. Got a Nissens one ordered on Tuesday from Mechanical_Repairs, much cheaper than I'd found anywhere else, and it turned up at work on Friday. So yesterday I set about changing it.

The old one looked pretty tired.

So the front end strip down began, wheels, arch liners, washer bottle, grill and bumper and have to come off to get at the radiator Shock Then the slam panel had to be loosened off to squeeze it past the inlet manifold! It was pretty much a days worth of a job.

Looking pretty bare with no radiator in place.

Old vs. New

Old one looks even worse when off the car.

And all fitted and car back together Smile

It's running a lot cooler now, even leaving it on fast idle for 15 minutes was only getting temps up to just under ¾.
