If so suprisingly heavy Decent price on the Quaife I meant the sound-deadening foam/rubber that goes on tha bulkhead, but also the removable rubber floormats that came with the car are a nice little weight saving too. Very pleased with the Quaife price, but still not exactly cheap... ________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. I sell new and used welding equipment in the Hampshire area. Loom and Diff arrived today , now I need to organise a cambelt kit and a clutch, so I can get busy over the Easter weekend. Anybody that has any experience fitting throttle bodies and is in the Southampton area over the weekend is welcome to pop round and offer advice, or laugh and point (whichever seems more appropriate )________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. A little more progress...Will be trying my best to get the wiring from the ECU to the clocks sorted out tomorrow, and working towards firing her up tomorrow afternoon. Big thanks to Chris for all the help over the last few days. ________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. I sell new and used welding equipment in the Hampshire area. No mention of leaving the tissue and your old blouse in the inlets? It dont really look like much, but took us all day to get that far, not far of getting her started. The first set of HT leads where too short, but the halfords own leads are longer than the bosh ones so happy days, |

Got myself in a bit of a pickle now. I have the bodies all plumbed in and all the sensors connected except for coolant temp. The sensor Omex supplied me with is a different thread to the hole tapped in the thermostat housing. Anyway, before I installed the basemap on the ECU, turning the key to the acessories position primed the fuel pump, after installing the map however the ECU no longer powers up the fuel relay and therefore I get no fuel. Now I'm stumped. Gutted really as I stayed working on the car until about 12.30 and hearing it run would've given me a bit of a boost, in typical French style though it gave me another headache instead! The car is skating on very thin ice now... On the plus side with all this rain we've been having lately my awning has come in handy over the last dew days! Ignore the dodgy plumbing and wiring, it will all be tidied up later once I have it all up and running. Laid out my cables for the battery relocation and temporarily housed the battery in it's old box until the new one arrives. And this was where it all goes to rat-shit! Battle will resume tomorrow... ________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. I sell new and used welding equipment in the Hampshire area. Right, armed with my pinout data sheet (thanks Spikey) a multimeter and several cups of coffee, I'm off to figure out why my ECU won't let me have any fuel (This may take a while...)________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. Well I'm happy to say the Rallye survived the day! No need to resort to violence towards it at all My mate Martin came round and had a look with me, we re-installed the mapping software and the correct map this time (my fault) and rewired the supply to the fuel relay. (Which does'nt work if you do it the way Omex suggest) once we had that sorted and I had connected a decent earth from the engine to the chassis we were able to turn the engine over.At first we got nothing but with a little winding in of the idle screw she fired into life no trouble at all. One thing we did find though was that if we left the coolant temperature sensor out of the thermostat housing and left it dangling in free air (with a temperature of 10-12 degrees) the engine ran fine, once we fitted the sensor and it got up to 80-90 degrees the engine started misfiring and trying to spit flames back out through the bodies! So that will need sorting out in a propper mapping session soon. I won't be driving it auntil then anyway as I still have a pile of other stuff to do to the car yet, cambelt, diff, clutch etc. so I'm in no rush, just really pleased to hear it running again, after ripping that many important parts off an engine it's always a worry until it goes again Would love to have it ready for the upcoming car show at Coombe, but I fear that running low on budget will force me to miss that one. ________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. As you've spotted the relays are switched Earth's and not switched Positive (Piggy back the 2 lives), All after market ECU's are like this as no current really flows thru themThe std CTS can be used without any issues too Get shot of some of those pipes, You don;t need the vacume pipe to the FSE valve or the brake servo as the Vac pump is enough (Thats if where the other take off goes) ________________________________________ 306 Rallye Sptint/Race Car, 205 CTI 1.9 8v to name a fewRoad, Track and Race/Rally car preparation to your personal requirements, Full Workshop & Diagnostic Facilities New and Second parts, from Plugs to Turbo's We now also carry out Routine Servicing www.pugracing.com & FB Page, https://www.facebook.com/PugRacing Ebay; http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Pug-Racing-Shop 2012/2013/2014/2019 Class Winners at Gurston Down Speed Hillclimb & Joint overall, Class record too along the way, |

Yeah, I have been told about the vaccum pipe not bieng needed for the fuel reg (Apparently its there to give a rising rate fuel pressure supply for boosted engines, so I'm just gonna put a T-piece in so both pipes feed into the vacuum pump. ________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. We tried it on the standard coolant temp sensor and it ran like a bag of spanners then too, it's obviously some problem with the hot running calibration of the map, because when the ECU thinks the engine is cold (And richens the mixture to compensate I guess?) it runs fine, as soon as you put the sensor back into the boss on the thermostat housing it stops idling and running smoothly and starts spitting flames.Needs setting up properly I guess. ________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. The vacume pump can be left just to feed the Servo as it provides more than enough without the inlet being needed, All the ones I;ve converted are like this are work better as there's no loss of vacume when left foot brakeing________________________________________ 306 Rallye Sptint/Race Car, 205 CTI 1.9 8v to name a fewRoad, Track and Race/Rally car preparation to your personal requirements, Full Workshop & Diagnostic Facilities New and Second parts, from Plugs to Turbo's We now also carry out Routine Servicing www.pugracing.com & FB Page, https://www.facebook.com/PugRacing Ebay; http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Pug-Racing-Shop 2012/2013/2014/2019 Class Winners at Gurston Down Speed Hillclimb & Joint overall, Class record too along the way, |
