~4.6kg for caliper, carrier and part-worn pads.

Might be out a little as that was an old-kitchen scales job Smile

How much do the wilwoods come in at?

Just got the brackets etc. Cheers PaulThumbs up

Phil, how did you manage to get them so shiney? Must have been a very fine/slow finishing cut. Unless you've polished them??Confused

If only they had dust seals for the road.

But do you really need them? Those AP's that, whats his name, has fitted didn;t have them did they?

Who me? Whistle

They did not have conventional dust shields by the looks of things but i spoke to a chap at ap racing and he assured me they did have seals to keep the dirt out Yes

Anyhow i did some research on the topic and no you dont really need dust seals so they would be fine Yes Would have thought you would require bigger disks though as although the mounting points are the same the offset of the caliper is most likely different Yes

Hi,

Have you done any investigation/ calculations/ FEA analysis into the stresses which are acting on the bracket under full braking load?

Whats the maximum shear forces acting on the cross seaction of the bracket? and what factor of safety have you engineered into the bracket?

I have access to ESDU charts if you want to use them.

Jose

Minimum strength shear failure around the bolt area would take 11.93ton-force, based on a 5x1,000,000,000 cycle length.
Maximum brake loading based on the absolute maximum brake line pressure and .5cf pads, with -3 braided hose is 2.72 metric tons.

(For interests sake predicted failure mode is never going to occur across that shear area, the bottom half of the bracket especially is almost entirely in tension, nominal predicted deformation strength is therefore 29.82tons, although the caliper mounting bolts would let go first)

Nominal braking force given 1g of deceleration on the stock car is 885kg-force, dependent on car attitude.
Slightly over-rated, I'd bet on the cast hub mounts going before the bracket did...

The spare one has been under the press and checked to 10 tons, hence the marks from the jig around the bolts (not going to press on a caliper!)
I can test it until failure if you want the figures?

Got the fitting kit today. It looks SEXUAL. There is something rather aesthetically pleasing about well finished metal. Cant wait to get 'em fitted as soon as the spacers are made. Hyper

Spacers list:

1. walls99, money ready.
2. smegal, money ready.
3. bininoz money ready
4. Stevieput, money ready.
5. Garry, money ready (if they fit 205's)

Do you know if these spacers will be suitable for the 205 Speedline/SMR alloys?

Ask Phil regarding spacers.
I'll be honest i don't have any experience with the 205 wheels. But i'd imagine it would be ok as i have seen 306 with 205 wheels on

Love with the mo's

no spacers fitted at the moment they are very close im been sorted with some 3mm's though Wink just to bring them out a little.

First impressions are awsome. didnt want to go too mad though untill i get them bled properly and made sure everything is sound and ok!

When i removed my old caliper the pads litrally fell out think it was missing some clips hahaDry

A bit blurry but heres another
