lmao, i knew that thats where you run the buggy as when i was driving past that stretch a year ish ago i seen a massive trail of dust/muck going across the top of the banking/framers field at the top of the motorway LOL that was you in the buggy or another one!

We run on the bit on the other side too, if you go to the other side of the workshop we've a longer track and our own tunnel under the motorway - the sound through that is Love - then back up the other side.

Bit of a shit weekend, alternator packed up on the first run, old scrapyard spare couldn't charge fast enough to keep up with the EPAS on the second run, then a fellow competitor had a huge end over end @80mph and had the be airlifted - it took them over an hour to cut them out of the car, co-driver is walking wounded after a checkover and a cast, driver currently on life support, broken neck, paralysed from chin down, not looking good, 7 hour op just to put bits back in the right places.
After that the heart kind of went out of it and we trundled around without the power steering and a cooling fan switched off, just to get some seat time in - as there weren't enough runs left due to the course closure for the accident for us to count as a finisher, need

1st in class today, 9th overall Big grin
And there were a lot of big power 4wd guys there today, so pretty happy with that!

Would have been 8th but the throttle cable snapped 200yards from the finish line on the very last run, and we ended up finishing 4 seconds behind the bloke who was 8th! Doh

Next one is the Simmonite Memorial event at Baden Hall Here

It's one of those events where all the old racers turn up due to it being the memorial so you should have the simmonite sisters in their Fouquet, the normal AWDC lot, the NORC club racers and whoever else comes out of the woodwork - it'll be 80% land rover-bases specials, but should be a fair few other cars there for some variaty too.
Course is usually very muddy and slow, you have been warned, bring wellys!

Bit more work on this now since the last race, stripped down and revalved the rear Fox dampers as the oil was knackered and the old bilstiens on there have lost some damping.
They're not revalvable though - sealed units - so I've altered the shims and pistons in the Fox's instead, as they're cooler running anyway.
Should have a bit more traction over the rough stuff and be a lot better landing and taking off over jumps, hopefully.

Stripped the rear calipers down and rebuilt those as they were sticking a bit, had all the nuts and bolts off the drivetrain and suspension and renewed the locktite as it tends to soften up after a few events.

Front upright has had a couple of new bearings again and a sleeve on the shaft to take it up to the next size bearing - see if we can get them to last longer than a season!

Also sorted out the number board by taking off the top where it looks bloody ugly and putting some proper stickers (thanks to Adam!) on the side of some Carbon/Kevlar panels on the side of the car.

Tweaked the airbox to get another litre of capacity in there just for a touch easier breathing for the engine, and sneaked a bigger filter in so it doesn't get clogged up as fast with the dust and mud.

Other than that, just routine maintaince - oils/filters/water/grease bushes/regass dampers.
And ready for the next race next weekend - novelty being ready this early for us!
