Mildly removed i think is the phrase.
Take Sean's 205. The only thing inside is wires, seats and a steering wheel

OK calm down it aint going to be stripped that far I would like some creature comforts. I have not finished as well yet thats as far as I have got with the interior.

I still have to remove the Sound proofing on the floor, remove any excess weight on the doors, carbon each door panel.

I did not want to loose the Dash as it starts getting ugly.

As the car started off as an XSI 16v, the first job was to remove the engine, after the engine was removed I degreased the engine bay, removed all of the ABS system, pipes, wires e.t.c so it was clear to scotch and degrease, me and my wife then cleaned the whole bay, I got to work with the angle grinder with grinding any rust down, then all rust patches were treated with the Rust Killer solution.

After a couple of hours of drying I then applied several coats of red oxide paint to engine bay, then scotched the whole area, it was masked up then painted with Ford Mercury Grey paint.

Once the engine bay was painted with several coats of paint it started to look a lot better.

I decided whilst the engine was out it would be easier to do where the window wiper motor and the air intake for heaters is, to remove all of that, then on a HOT day get the heat gun out and remove all the sound proofing from that area, after cooking myself to death, I removed any sticky residue and scotched the area, this was all then painted Ford Mercury Grey.

I only have one picture of the work done above which I took on my camera phone, I regret not taking more pics.

Next was the engine.....

What sort of changes have to be made when doing an XSi to 6 conversion? Is the 6 chassis strengthened at all anywhere compared to the lesser models?
Is the subframe the same?
What about driveshafts, are they different between models, and the steering rack presumably is different too, seeing as the rack on the 6 is shorter on the right lock?

When the conversion was done the chassis was not touched as it is identical, all that was changed was the driveshafts, the steering rack (because of the right hand lock.

After painting the engine bay I decided to paint the sub frame with Hammerite.

Once all the paint was dry, it was time for the Supercharged GTi6, the first part was to replace the steering rack with the GTi6 one as it allows the right hand lock without hitting the gearbox, when the supercharged engine was in my show car it only had a 5 speed gearbox so I sorted a 6 speed gearbox (hopefully it will be a lot better) with that done the engine was lowered into the engine, so at this present time it is all connected and starts first time, bonus! Smile

So the drive shafts were fitted, all I need to do next is to sort the major parts so i can test drive my GTi6.

below is a pic of my engine after the transplant

Next I will be getting the following parts:-

GTi6 Brakes and rear calipers - removed, grinded and wirebrushed all over - Completed
GTi6 Brakes & rear Calipers to be painted - Completed
Bushes for front & rear
De-cat pipe
Magnex 4" Full System
Brake Discs and Pads for front and rear.

Not been on the Rollers yet but I estimate about 230-240 bhp, will keep easy with a T16 for sure as its raced one.

I have the GTi6 sideskirts, phase 3 rear tailgate and spoiler, side mouldings, and DTM cup mirrors still to sort out.

Its going to be mainly a road car that I can take for a blast on the track when ever I want to rip some rubber up LOL.
