Ha, the pistons and rods are from a 300zx 3.0. 87mm pistons. They are apparantly a very good and cheaper alternative to forged parts!________________________________________ 2.1 16v 306 Rallye. |

Hmm yea, however i think that they havent been removed, very unsure on what caused the wear. I dont know if over-revving could cause it with the standard hydraulic lifter, it may be a possibility?! ________________________________________ 2.1 16v 306 Rallye. |

I know no other XU10 heads run the spray bars. ________________________________________ Seat Leon Cupra FR / 306 GTI6 / Breaking 205 GTI6 / Caterham 7 / Mercedes Sprinter 311CDI LWB Sold: Fisher Fury - Laguna DCI Estate - P1 306 XSI - E30 BMW 325i Baur Convertible - Daihatsu Fourtack - Suzuki GSXR600 - 205 Rallye |

Not a lot of progress yet, new cams have been decided on and being made at the moment. They are being custom built to a spec that Sandy has come up with by Newmans. Should have a similar lift to the old camshafts but a longer duration. Dont know the exact specs of them yet but it will post it up when i find out! ________________________________________ 2.1 16v 306 Rallye. |

After the mess of the old cams were gunna stick to 7250 or there abouts. In fairness with the higher capacity it should peak at a slightly lower rpm anyway.________________________________________ 2.1 16v 306 Rallye. |

Little bit of an update!Block decked and bored Bits ready to go together Rods with arp bolts Crank in place Loom made and wrapped Unfortunatly there has been a small problem with the rods. The rods have an oil spray system from the factory which you can see in the pic at the bottom of the rod where there is a small lump. Problem being is that the engine would turn over fine in one direction but they would catch in another. Good job everything is tried before it goes back in the car. Had to be stripped apart again and the rods have now been machined to fit. ________________________________________ 2.1 16v 306 Rallye. |

Problems again unfortunatly. It seems that there is too much float on the crank end with the 300zx rods and it may go together ok but Sandy isnt too confident it will last as well as it should. Looks like a set of forgies are on the cards ________________________________________ 2.1 16v 306 Rallye. |

As in, the aren't wide enough so theres too much movement on the crankpin journal?I did think it would have been a stroke of luck for some nissan parts to "just fit" on a peugeot crank Forgies FTW anyway ________________________________________ Cress87 wrote: This place is getting beyond a joke. I think it is a case of them not being wide enough. Sandy has got some opinions from a few other reputable builders and they seem to think that with the amount of movement there is they should be fine, not worth taking the chance tho imo.________________________________________ 2.1 16v 306 Rallye. |
