Hopefully! We're looking to get good durability from the engine aswell as mid range/top end power but something around 220bhp is the target to start. Should sound nice at around 8500rpm Big grin
Another advantage of this lump is the alloy block, weight is the bit issue with the 306 after having a 205.
Time will tell though and I can't wait to see the results.

Fantastic work, feeling a bit inspired for a bit of fettling (alright ripping more excess crap out) over the winter now...

By the way why remove the servo?

I find it gives a much better feel to the brakes and for a car that is race use only there isn't much need for one. I found my old brakes to be over servo'd on track and a little harder to heel and toe in the heat of the moment'! It'll have a nice big set of 4 pots on there to help out.
Plus the added weight saving and more room to get the cross bracing through to the front struts.

i was just going to ask you about the servo. Are there any disadvantages on the road? i would have thought alot more pedal effort would be needed.

Yeah a hell of a lot, wouldn't advise it for the road really. Couldn't be doing with that on a sleepy drive to work or round town driving.
Although elise's don't have servo assisted brakes but they are a lot lighter!

awesome build tho mate, are you expecting to finish quite highly in the championship itself? Difficult to say i know but it must be one of the most focused builds in the class?

Hopefully yeah if I'm up to the task!
The car should be a class winning contender, just need to get myself in to the flow of racing as quick as possible as I've never raced competitivly before. lol

Need my lap times to be in the region of the 1:19's to be a front runner.
That's about 4 seconds a lap to find over what I was doing in the 205!

Hmm good luck with it fella - I think I would want to allow a little flex, but each to their own.

I'll see it next year when I come down to the champs - have a couple of friends running their diablo 106s from the psooc.

Sandy's work is amazing. Some of his TU engines have been second to none, the guy knows his stuff and swears by Marks heads. I cant wait to see how this engine turns out.

Solid engine mounts are fine, you just need to adequately strengthen the mounts in the engine bay. Mine are a bit different to yours but they work well. Oh, and expect your car to be VERY loud on the inside. Mine's almost unbearable without a lid on.

Fantastic thread- especially the detail of all the pictures nice one Big grin

You don't do things by halves do you?!

Question for the club- the 'lesser sound deadening' that rallyes have- does that mean we don't have that 6kg of black sticky deadening? If we do I need to find a heat gun LOL

Look forward to seeing the finished article and how you do....good luck!!

That's a myth, the Rallye was exactly the same car but without some of the electrical luxuries.

Thanks everyone, picked it up at the weekend and brought it back home to finish up preparing the shell, brakes and interior etc. Lovely seating positing, really low.
Will pop some more pics up when I'm at home in daylight and I'm allowed to have a break from fitting the kitchen! lol

Ah Nick and Chrissy, there are a couple of others in the PSOOC running at Combe too which is good.

Oh everything is most definitely strengthened! lol
Yeah I'm expecting it to be really quite loud, but it's only going to be used to race and track as it wont be on the road. So ear plug and skid lid all the time, but not sure what to do about the retinas!! lol

good stuff. Is the head a ported XU7 job, or a GTi-6 swap? I'm hoping to put a 6 head on mine with matching manifolds, then swap the aircon pump for an Eaton M45.

Right, time to start cracking on the project again.

Havn't had a chance to do anything with the 306 sinse I picked it up a few weeks ago as I've been building our new kitchen instead. Woo fun! Sad

Anyway, had a day off last week for a bit of a play so brought it out and gave it a clean, removed the rear spoiler and rest of the tar in the footwells (man that was a cold job!)

Also started chopping up the dash. It was 9.1 kgs when I started which was supprising.
I've not finished chopping it up yet or tidying it up but had a chance to get it in the car and offer it up in to place.

Can't make much out from the pics, I'll get some better ones when I'm done.
Here's a couple anyway, I'm quite happy I've managed to keep it resembeling original so far and therefore quite tidy (well it will be).

Although have found one thing, the upper gear rod goes straight through the console! lol
But should be able to make that neat and smart looking.

And a couple of shiney (ish) pics just cos I like em...

Week off for Xmas next week so I'll have a chance to get this on a roll again now daylight will be about! Smile
