45 degree nipples is a good shout, id rather not have to touch the subframe. Can you grease them up on the car without having to loosen anything up?

Sorry for the O/T Chris, but im sure it is usefull to you too (thats my excuse and im sticking to it)

Plus I just wanted to find any old excuse for my 1000th post Big grin

On some cars they give a fair bit of clearance on the frame, on some others they don't seem to!

You are find to put a little scallop in the edge of the subframe if you want to get to the grease nipple more easily though Yes

Or fit 45 deg. grease nipples as Dave has done. If you need these, you want M6 thread.

On the latest batch of bushes I moved the grease nipple to give more clearance Smile

Chris, DHL have collected your doorbar - I would anticipate receiving it tomorrow or Monday.

So finished work a little early today so decided to attack the block with some tomato sauce, yes your reading that right, and try and get it clean ready for painting over the weekend, so it now covered in sauce and will wah it off tomorrow if I get back in time, if not will be weekend.
Next job was to strip the oil pump as my bed time reading lately has been my haynes manual (yes its sad) and it mentioned you can overhaul the pump, so stripped it and it looks really clean and shiney inside, no wear at all.
So rang pug and ordered a new piston 97p a new spring and guild pin was 204p and the new gasket 8QUID, must be bloody gold or something, anyway they will be in monday as they do not stock them and hope to put the lot together monday. The Tea strainer was full of loads of crap but apart form that all looking good

probably, but the two cogs inside rub agaisnt it and you can see two slight circles, compared to a new pump its not that bad I suppose, but still, as the piston only 97p and thats pretty big

So had a early finish from work today, so thought I would finish my block off.
Found a better paint finish then that hi temp stuff in the light blue cans, and its cheaper

Looks a bit dusty.

Then did some more on the oil pump, the parts wont be in till thursday as pug having trouble getting the gasket.

After I cleaned off all de greaser the parts had been in since friday, they looked good.
I refitted the tea strainer.
After looking at the back plate for the oil pump, as you can see it looks a little scored, not bad, but as it was apart, seemed a good idea to sort it

Using an old school engineering technique I refaced it.
How I did it was get a bit of MDF, it needs to be mdf as that is machined flat and true from the factory, if you have access to a true and flat surface use that.
I then laid a bit of 400 grit on the mdf and covered the wet and dry with some light machine oil and then making sure you keep the face flat and do not go in the same direction too often, you can get the marks off the face

and the finished result

I started cleaning my sump and will post some more pics when its done.
I painted the dip stick tube, just need to refit it as was still a bi tacky.
