Hi guys,

I've had my 6 lowered on a 40mm gmax kit for quite a while. i'm perfectly happy with the ride and handling. But one thing has bugged me since I got it done!. the rear appears slightly higher than the front. I have had the torsion bar taken down one notch, and i've gone back to the place that did it to ask if it can go down a bit more. They advised that if they take it down another notch it'll be lower on the back, and thats the only thing they can do.

I've since been posting on a 106 forum as I was thinking about a change to a 106 gti, and a few people have commented that there are 2 ways to lower the torsion bar. By notches (30-35mm per notch), or another way which allows you to be more precise in mm's.

Any truth there?. I've seen other 6'es that are lowere and look level, so i want mine to be.

cheers,

You can do it by the mm method yeah, its slightly more difficult to get the bars out.

I think a lot of garages usually don't like this method as its possible to break a tool off in the torsion bar, which can get messy Sad

You ideally want a pug specialist to do it really.

Looks lower than 40mm to me at the front, G-Max usually comes down lower than stated though Thumbs down

thanks.

Yeah I agree the front does look pretty low, and I heard the same thing about Gmax!. I'll have to see if i can find someone who can do it properly for me, its really annoying me, as it doesnt look very pretty when you look at the car from certain angles Sad. Although i'm quite sure that it would look ok when its moving, as the moving force makes the back go down a bit! LOL

Lowering in mm's is easy if you are reasonably handy with a spanner. Guide how to here...

Looks ok to me Wink

Think yourself lucky, took mine to the garage today as right side at rear lower than left.

They reckon some chump tried lowering it but have not done it equally!

Up to you what to do, the rear looks like mine which is actually perfect imo.

The front could do with some -30mm springs perhaps???

30mm springs on the front, thats an idea!.

I'll have a look to see what options i have with them. Knowing my luck i'd get some that lower the same amount as the ones i have.

I think so far my only other choice is to go back to Elite and ask them to lower the rear one notch again and see what happens. I dont know anywhere else to get it done.
