Hope everyone is well and safe with all the madness going on in the world at the moment.

I'm after a bit of advice from you helpful lot .

My poor GTI needs new shocks and springs front and rear and just wondered what brands you would recommended/have fitted to yours. I ideally would like to keep it as close to original as possible.

I was looking at some of the bilstein shocks which I think are supposed to be good on the whole.

Has the problem with B4's sitting too high been resolved?

A few years back there was a known design error with the 306 B4 front shocks that left the spring seat too high resulting in the front end sitting approx. 10 - 15 mm too high.

I know it got fed back to Bilstein but I don't recall if the design was updated or not...?

The B4's on my car are a few years old now and made in the bad batch run. I think the issue was the little tab that gets welded on which sits in the upright is positioned a little too low on the damper so it can't slide down to what i'd call full depth. I vaguely remember Bilstein replying to whoever messaged them and claimed there was no issue.
I've got no idea if Bilstein have since revised their design or not.
Mine does sit like a monster truck at the front but i've not helped that by always using 50 profile tyres to make the arch gap even worse

I was looking at the Bilstein B4's in all fairness so that's good and fingers crossed won't have any issues.

Now just need to decide where to get them from lol.

I have come to a decision and I'm going to go with The Bilstein B4 shocks front and rear to keep it as close to original as possible.

Any suggestions on where to get them from and can anyone just confirm the part numbers for me as unless I'm looking it up wrong multiple sites say different things on whether it has sport suspension or standard suspension....

These are the part no's I came up with from Bilsteins site:

22-045959 Front Left Axle
22-045966 Front Right Axle
19-019314 Rear Axle
