I was joking, wasn't aware of your situation but the speeling and grammer police were a thing like TC so reliving the dream of the former forum times. But awaiting bakery forum I've been and bought some flour and yeast.

As for the above about wife and kids, yeah I don't suffer from any of that thankfully.

6 and a half years gap since my last post on here. Thought I'd look in a couple of weeks ago and saw it was opening up again, well done I think we the dwindling numbers of them left means the numbers on this site willing to pay were always going one way.

It's about 12 years since my last 6 died at cadwell park. Maybe for the best since my wife said she'd hae never dated me if I had it when I asked her out! Think it the straight through to scorpion back box had something to do with it. I'm far more sensible these days, an XC60 and caravan for the weekend and a VFR800 for commuting.

Common sense prevailed in the end then Happy

Been casually keeping an eye on things but have been busy traversing the globe for the last few years so haven't had much to say No Good news is ive somehow managed to hang on to the Rallye and all it's goodness so there will be some fun to be had in the future, it does need some work though, ive spotted some bubbling paintwork Sad

Surely it calls for a full respray in the future right Ninja Smile

The exile is over !

I too still have my GTi 6, however it's been off the road since 2011 and in need of a lot of TLC to get it back to it's formal glory

Wow! That is a blast from the past! That's great that you still have the 6! Like you my Rallye needs a refresh to get it back on the road. Loved the cherry 6, definitely get some pics up of the TLC when you get round to doing it Smile

Mine definitely needs a refresh. Rebuilt the garage around the bare shell so it now has a nice coating of mortar to protect the paint

Interesting thread, I linked this as an example on an MR2 Roadster forum I use and it seems we're headed for a similar stage - car ownership declining, people wanting instant answers on Facebook etc.

Hope all's well with everyone

Glad to see the forums staying open. Not been on here much for a few years now. Like many times change (have kids, buy house etc) so the fun car gets put to one side. Still own the rallye tho, been sat for about 8 years but it will be revived in the next year!

Was your 6 the one your dad owned before? I've still got my Rallye, too. It's now stripped, caged, suspension tinkered with, still road legal and makes me grin like a muppet everytime I take it out. Which is about 3 times a year!

I have only been a member for a few years but the amount I have learnt about GTI6's and their little foibles has been immense.
There are some very experienced and knowledgeable people on this forum, and I never would have understood the joys of running a 306 as a race car without their experience.
I have already met some of the forum members at race tracks etc. We all carry the same "millstones" around our necks and still come back for more when these French cars stretch our patience.

If we all need to pay £35 per annum for membership, then so be it. The forum is too valuable to lose.
